Carlos Alcaraz is enjoying a dream run in 2026, shattering records one after the other and winning titles for fun. After becoming the youngest-ever male to complete a career slam at the Australian Open 2026, where he beat Novak Djokovic in the final, the Spaniard has now entered yet another elite list.
Alcaraz became the ATP World No. 1 for the first time in 2022, after clinching the US Open title, his maiden Grand Slam major. He was just 19 years, 4 months and 7 days old at the time, and finished the year as the youngest year-end No. 1 in ATP rankings history.
While the race to the top of the rankings chart has been intense between Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, the Spaniard has dominated the rivalry and ended the Italian’s long reign at the top by defeating him in the US Open 2025 final.

He displaced American legend Pete Sampras, surpassing him for the second spot by just 19 days. Alcaraz therefore trails just Lleyton Hewitt, who reached this milestone at just 21 years of age.
The Spaniard’s arch rival, Sinner, has spent 66 weeks as the World No. 1 so far, and the Spaniard is all set to surpass the Italian’s overall count. Sinner reached his 60th week when he was 23 years old.
