Carlos Alcaraz’s only title of the season so far has come at the ATP Rotterdam.
Carlos Alcaraz has surpassed Jannik Sinner in the exclusive list of players born after 2000 to reach the most ATP 1000 Masters finals after his semi-final win at Monte Carlo Masters. The 21-year-old faced compatriot Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the semi-final of the 2025 Monte Carlo Masters on Saturday, April 12.
The second seed forced the first set into a tie-break and eventually won 7-2. Later, he completed the triumph 7-6 (2), 6-4. Alejandro Davidovich Fokina’s memorable campaign at Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, where he beat Jack Draper and Ben Shelton, also came to an end.

It was a big win for Alcaraz as his only title of the season so far has come at the ATP 500 event in Rotterdam. He lost to Jiri Lehecka in the quarter-finals of the Qatar Open and later came up short against Jack Draper in the Indian Wells Masters semis.
However, Alcaraz’s most disappointing outcome came in the Miami Open, where he lost to David Goffin in the second round. Nevertheless, the 21-year-old has regained his form by storming into the final of the 2025 Monte Carlo Masters. With another final appearance, the Spaniard has surpassed arch-rival Jannik Sinner for a new record.
Carlos Alcaraz has topped the list of players born after 2000 to reach the most ATP 1000 Masters finals. The Spanish tennis star leads the race with seven finals, one above ATP World No. #1 Jannik Sinner, who has reached six. Holger Rune is third with four, while Jakub Mensik, Felix Auger-Aliassime, and Jack Draper are also on the list with one final each.
Talking about Alcaraz, out of his six final matches, the Spaniard has won five. His only loss at a 1000 Masters final came against Novak Djokovic at the 2023 Cincinnati Open final. Moreover, it will be his third clay final (the other two have been at the Madrid Open) and the first in Monte Carlo.
The 21-year-old said after the match, “I knew how well Davidovich Fokina had played in Monte Carlo so I had to be ready to fight. It’s been a long time since I’ve had the chance to win a title on clay and I can’t wait to try my luck again here.”
He’ll face the winner of the second semi-final, between Lorenzo Musetti and Alex de Minaur, in the final.
