Carlos Alcaraz vs Alexander Zverev prediction, betting tips & odds, head-to-head, preview: Australian Open 2026

Alcaraz will face off with Zverev in his 10th career Grand Slam semi-final.
Carlos Alcaraz ended Alex de Minaur’s aspirations of making the semi-finals at his home event with a convincing display. The Spaniard, who conjured up a 7-5, 6-2, 6-1 victory in two hours and 15 minutes, will now make his semi-final debut at Melbourne Park.
Initially pegged back in the 58-minute opening set by De Minaur, the Spaniard regrouped for his sixth straight victory over the Aussie. The top seed is yet to lose to De Minaur in half a dozen meetings on the ATP Tour.
If De Minaur had won, he would have become the first Australian semi-finalist in Melbourne since Lleyton Hewitt in 2005. Despite bringing his trademark tenacity to the contest, the No. 6 seed from Sydney lost the match, appearing to run out of steam following the closely fought opening set.
Alcaraz is two wins away from becoming the youngest man to complete the career Grand Slam. The World No. 1 must overcome last year’s finalist, Alexander Zverev, as he chases his maiden Australian Open title.
Zverev, also looking for his first Grand Slam title, ended American Learner Tien’s impressive run at the 2026 Australian Open in the last eight. The German secured the 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-1, 7-6(3) victory in three hours, 10 minutes, and advanced to his third straight semi-final at the venue
Zverev, the No. 3 seed, fired 24 aces and 56 winners to book his place in the last four. The 20-year-old Tien was making his quarter-final debut at a Grand Slam. Tien had earlier accounted for former World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev in straight sets in the fourth round.

The winner on Friday will go on to face either defending champion Jannik Sinner or 10-time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic in the title round.
All the remaining contestants in the men’s singles semi-finals are the top four seeds at the event. This is the first occasion in Melbourne since 2013 and the first time at a Grand Slam since the 2019 Roland-Garros.
Djokovic is fortunate to be in the last four after Lorenzo Musetti retired while leading two sets to nil. Sinner had an easy day at the office with straight sets win over American Ben Shelton.

Match prediction
Alcaraz has been unstoppable in Melbourne as he cleared the quarter-final hurdle for the first time. The Spaniard is yet to drop a set in the tournament and has been clinical in taking down his opponents with his aggressive brand of tennis.
Meanwhile, Zverev will be a threat with his big-serving abilities in what will be his fourth semi-final in Australia. His ability to score aces will earn the German free points. Zverev was runner-up last season and will be eager to make amends for the lost opportunity.
The German, with a fair share of experience in the business end of Grand Slams, is capable of taking the fight to Alcaraz. Naturally, the Spaniard will counter, and this is where the top seed will shine courtesy of his shot-making variety and ability to suffocate his rivals.
Result: Carlos Alcaraz to win in four sets.
