The American star secured hard-fought four-set wins against the Netherlands’ Tallon Griekspoor, Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz, and Canada’s Denis Shapovalov. The 23-year-old Shelton was in sterling form against a rejuvenated Stefanos Tsitsipas, securing a 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 straight-sets win.
Shelton, however, is yet to secure his first win against Alcaraz. The Spaniard has a 3-0 record against his opponent, beating him 7-6(10), 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 in their last meeting at Roland Garros in 2025.
