Carlos Alcaraz vs Cameron Norrie prediction, betting tips & odds, head-to-head, preview: Wimbledon 2025

Carlos Alcaraz has reached the quarter-final for a fourth consecutive time at Wimbledon.

Carlos Alcaraz lost the opening set to Andrey Rublev in the fourth round in a tight tie-break that the Spaniard narrowly lost. The two-time defending champion quickly recovered, aided by breaking Rublev’s serve in the eighth game of the second set.

The setback of the first set faded to the background as the No. 2 seed from Murcia turned the tables on the Russian. He broke Rublev twice more in the third and fourth sets.

Alcaraz’s 41 wins and 22 aces played a significant part in his 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 victory on Centre Court as he brought up his 22nd win at Wimbledon. It took 2 hours and 44 minutes for Alcaraz to register his third win over Rublev and make the last eight for the third consecutive time.

The 22-year-old Spaniard thrilled the crowd with some spectacular shots, such as the forehand at 30-4 and 3-3 in the third set on the Rublev serve. Alcaraz went full stretch to whip away a cross-court forehand and take the game.

Now, Alcaraz will face Cameron Norrie, the last British man left in the men’s draw, for a place in the semi-final. Norrie edged out Chilean Nicolas Jarry 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-7(7), 6-7(5), 6-3 in an epic five-setter.

The left-handed Norrie withstood a barrage of 103 winners and 46 aces from the big-serving Jarry to return to the quarter-finals at SW19. It took four-and-a-half hours for Norrie to survive the hard-fought encounter with the Chilean.

Preview

Alcaraz has not been as dominant as he would have hoped at the ongoing Wimbledon event. He avoided the fate that befell the top seeds at SW19 but is yet to find his groove at the All England Club. He was tested by Fabio Fognini in the opening round, taking five sets to defeat the veteran.

Alcaraz also dropped a set each against Jan-Lennard Struff and Andrey Rublev. His sole straight-set win came in the second round against British qualifier Oliver Tarvet.

Cameron Norrie kept the British fans happy on Sunday when he fought his way past Nicolas Jarry. The southpaw is now a win away from making the last four, a feat he achieved in 2022. With the home crowd in his corner, Norrie recovered from missing an opportunity to take the win in the third set tie-break at 6-5 to let Jarry off the hook.

Cameron Norrie at 29 is the third-oldest British player to reach the Men’s Singles quarter-final at Wimbledon after Andy Murray (2017) and Roger Taylor (1973). On the opposite side of the age bracket, Carlos Alcaraz, 22, has matched Rafael Nadal’s three consecutive men’s Singles quarter-finals at Wimbledon. Nadal made the last eight at SW19 between 2006 and 2008.

Match Prediction

Carlos Alcaraz and Cameron Norrie will face off for the first time since 2023. In their last meeting, Norrie got the better of Alcaraz in three sets at the 2023 Rio Open. The upcoming quarterfinal will be their first match at the grass-court major.

Alcaraz will be the odds-on favourite to extend his match wins in the 2025 season, which currently stands at 46 when he takes on Norrie in the last eight. Norrie will have the backing of the home crowd as he looks to overcome Alcaraz for the second time in a row. The Spaniard arrived at Wimbledon having won the Queen’s Club title and has displayed resilience in spades in the early rounds.

It is likely to be another see-saw match between Alcaraz and Norrie, with the Spaniard emerging as the winner despite a spirited challenge by the British left-hander.

Result: Alcaraz will win in straight sets.
