No Pressure! Aryna Sabalenka's subtle message for boyfriend Georgios Frangulis after 'proposal' during her match

Love is in the air. Everywhere. It wasn’t just tennis thrilling the crowd at Louise Armstrong Stadium on Friday night. As Aryna Sabalenka wrapped up her third-round win over Canadian Leylah Fernandez at the US Open 2025, romance stole the spotlight when a couple got engaged in front of thousands of fans.

Sabalenka, defending champion at Flushing Meadows, took another step closer to successfully retaining her title after easing past the World No. 30 Fernandez with a 6-3, 7-6(2) straight sets victory. The Belarusian is yet to drop a set at the US Open this year.

However, it was the proposal in stands that grabbed the limelight, even catching the attention three-time Grand Slam winner.

During the match, fans erupted into cheers as the stadium’s jumbotron captured a man going down on one knee, ring in hand, to propose to his partner, who was surprised by the occasions. The emotional “yes”, sealed with happy tears of joy, drew an overwhelming reaction from the crowd.

Sabalenka confessed after the match that the moment kept her smiling, “I think it’s the first time that someone proposed during my match, and it was a very sweet moment,” she said in the post-match press conference

The WTA World No. 1 warmly wished the couple well, “It was a great moment, and as I said on the court, I wish them to have a happy marriage.”

When asked if the romantic display might inspire similar surprises from others also, Sabalenka playfully turned the spotlight toward her own relationship. “I looked at my boyfriend. No pressure,” she quipped with a laugh.

Sabalenka has been in a relationship with Brazilian entrepreneur Georgios Frangulis since 2024. The couple has been spotted together frequently, with Frangulis traveling across the globe to support her tournaments.

Frangulis is the founder and CEO of Oakberry, a superfood brand specializing in acai products. The brand was launched in 2016 and recently collaborated with the tennis star to launch her signature acai bowl.

In an interview in 2024 with PEOPLE, Sabalenka shared how much his support meant during a difficult time in her life.

“There was a really tough period where I was really happy to have him by my side, always cheering me up, always making sure that we are doing some fun stuff.”

Meanwhile, at the US Open 2025, Sabalenka will next face Cristian Bucas of Spain for a place in the quarter-finals.
