The Davis Cup 2025 is the 113th edition of the Davis Cup, a tournament between national teams in men’s tennis. Part of the 2025 ATP Tour calendar, the first round of the 2025 Davis Cup Qualifiers in the international men’s tennis tournament is set to begin from January 30 and will run until February 2.

Two months after Italy successfully defended their title in Málaga (Spain), nations from across the world will battle it out to secure a berth in the last eight of the Davis Cup at the end of the season. The final leg of the competition will take place in Bologna from 18–23 November, 2025. As the defending champion, Italy earned themselves a direct qualification.

The winners of the forthcoming qualifiers will determine who advances to September’s second round, where the final seven teams will be decided. Finalists from the previous season, team Netherlands have received a bye into the second round.

The marquee event will feature some of the biggest names from the tennis fraternity including World Number #5 Casper Ruud, World Number #8 Alex de Minaur, World Number #12 Holger Rune and World Number #15 Ugo Humbert.

As expected, 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic had to pull out of Serbia’s tie against Denmark due to a hamstring injury sustained at the Australian Open. 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios too, withdrew from Australia’s meeting with Sweden.

Davis Cup Qualifiers ties will be held at a variety of worldwide venues. A hosts’ nation holds each tie within their country, usually based on the draw and home-away rotation system. Locations for the Qualifier matches are determined by the national federations from the participating teams, specifically based on where and with whom they will play.

What is the format for Davis Cup 2025 Qualifiers?

Twenty-six nations will compete in 13 home-or-away ties following a structured format: two singles matches on Day 1, followed by one doubles match and two singles matches on Day 2. The participating teams comprise 14 nations that competed in the 2024 Finals, along with the 12 winners from the 2025 Qualifiers.

The September stage (Qualifiers second round) will feature seven home-or-away ties held over two days. The seven winning teams will join the host nation in the Final 8 knock-out stage in November.

The host country will be awarded a spot in the Final 8 as long as it is ranked in the top 50 nations or one of its players has an individual ranking in the top 10. If these criteria are not met, the last spot in the Final 8 will be reallocated to a different country as a wild card.
