Fritz won the Eisenhower Cup for the second time.
Ahead of the Eisenhower Cup 2025, Taylor Fritz was expected to partner Aryna Sabalenka, with the duo winning in 2023. However, when the Belarusian opted out, Elena Rybakina was called in to fill the void. On the night of the exhibition event, the Kazakh outperformed everyone else.
In a unique combination of big servers in one team, Fitz and Elena Rybakina (now termed Fribakina) proved too hot to handle for all other teams. Despite playing together for the first time they complemented each other well to get through a tricky draw.
The event featured some of the best players, including five-time Grand Slam winner Iga Swiatek and Australian Open champion Madison Keys. Fritz-Rybakina kicked off their campaign with a decisive victory over the all-Russian pairing of Daniil Medvedev and Amanda Anisimova.
In the semi-final round, it was the turn of the defending champions Ben Shelton and Emma Navarro. Despite a late hurrah from the American pair, the newly formed Kazakh-American duo got home easily, eliminating the reigning champions.

In the other semi-final, Iga Swiatek and Hubert Hurkacz were beaten by Madison Keys and Tommy Paul. Another title was in the sight for Keys, but they were unable to stop the âFribakinaâ juggernaut.
The competition follows âThe Winner Takes It Allâ format. Hence, the prize pool of $200,000 was awarded to the winning team, with Rybakina and Fritz taking home $100,000 each. This is certainly a remarkable award, as players competed in only three matches, with each match lasting for nearly 20 minutes.
With the traditional Eisenhower Cup (or Tie Break Tens) done and dusted, the attention now shifts to the main action at Indian Wells Open. The round of 64 matches start on March 7 and 8 for womenâs and menâs singles respectively.

While players await the results of the qualifiers and round of 128 to determine who they contest, a potential Iga Swiatek vs Elena Rybakina and Aryna Sabalenka vs Madison Keys semi-final encounter is on the cards.
In the menâs circuit, all eyes will be on the potential block-buster contest between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz. Several young players will be in the spotlight, particularly the recently crowned champions, Mirra Andreeva and Joao Fonseca.
