Fact Check: Are tennis stars Carlos Alcaraz & Emma Raducanu dating?

The duo will play the US Open 2025 as mixed doubles partners.

Carlos Alcaraz has never hidden the fact that he’s open to finding love, but his schedule as a professional tennis player has often gotten in the way.

“No, I am single. I am looking for someone. It can be difficult as a tennis player to meet the right person because you are traveling all the time,” he shared in an interview.

The Spaniard, who recently lifted his fifth Grand Slam title at the French Open, will face Taylor Fritz on July 11 in the semifinals at Wimbledon. Here is some stat for the tennis geeks – this marks his third straight appearance in the final four at SW19, and he went on to win the title in both of his previous two runs.

But it’s not just his tennis that’s drawing attention; his growing rapport with Emma Raducanu is turning just as many heads. Raducanu was seen in the stands when Alcaraz battled past Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals on July 6 to book his spot in the last four.

Earlier, the British player was also seen cheering for Alcaraz at the Queen’s Club Championships, and that alone was enough to send the internet spiraling with rumors about a possible romance between the two rising tennis stars.

But Emma Raducanu didn’t let the speculation carry on for long. Speaking at a pre-Wimbledon press conference on June 28, she shut it down directly and said, “We’re just good friends.”

Raducanu, who won the US Open in 2021, has earlier revealed that she has known Alcaraz for quite some time now.

“I’ve known him for years. Wimbledon 2021 was the first time I started getting to know him, and I had a good run there and then also again in the US Open in 2021,” she said.

Raducanu also reflected on their early connection, saying, “He’s overtaken me a lot, but it’s nice that we have that from a while ago.”

She went on to say that such friendships matter more over time. “I think for all of us, we really kind of value those connections that we had from when we were young because when you become a bit more known or a bit more successful, you just find yourself reverting to people you knew from a young age because you’re like, ‘That’s a real genuine connection.”

She concluded, “Because it becomes busy, and you have a lot more friends, but the ones that you’ve known for a long time mean a lot to you.”

What has turned the spotlight even brighter is the duo playing the mixed doubles event at the 2025 US Open beginning August 24 in New York.

Speaking to the BBC, Raducanu revealed, “He asked me earlier on in the year, and I was surprised, honored, and excited.” She added, “I just went through the formality of asking my coach. But of course I was going to say yes.”

Relationship history of both tennis stars

Alcaraz was reportedly previously linked to Maria Gonzalez Gimenez, who is a fellow Spanish tennis player and law graduate from Murcia.

In a 2023 Vogue interview, he said, “It’s complicated, never staying in one place. It’s hard to find a person who can share things with you if you’re always in different parts of the world.” He also added that he had been single for 18 months following a breakup.

Raducanu’s dating history includes a relationship with Carlo Agostinelli, the son of billionaire financier Robert Agostinelli, which began reportedly in May 2023 and ended around June 2024.
