Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard set the fastest serve record at Wimbledon in 2025.

The Wimbledon serve speed record has been broken several times, as the world’s best servers unleash missiles that leave spectators and players alike speechless. The grass courts at SW19 are famous for their quick pace and low bounce, which has always given an edge to power servers, making the serve one of the most vital tools in a player’s repertoire.

In the modern era of tennis, as the sport varies, both the accuracy and the pace of the serve increase with every new generation. On that note, let’s take a look at the top five fastest serves in Wimbledon history.

5. Andy Roddick: 146 mph (2004)

One of the game’s greatest servers, Andy Roddick, set the record for one of the fastest serves in Wimbledon history with a 146 mph serve during the 2004 tournament. Roddick’s explosive serve and aggressive baseline play earned him deep runs, including three runner-up finishes at the All England Club.

In the 2004 Wimbledon tournament’s third round, he played Jonas Björkman from Sweden and completely dominated the match, beating him in straight sets while serving an unbelievable 146 mph explosive rocket serve.

4. Sam Groth: 147 mph (2015)

Samuel Groth served a rocket at the Wimbledon Championships 2015 against Roger Federer, which went down in history as one of the finest serves. Even though the Australian served powerfully, the Swiss icon was able to decimate him 6-4, 6-4, 6-7, 5-2, 6-2 in straight sets and move on to the next round of the tournament.

3. Milos Raonic: 147 mph (2012)

Milos Raonic clocked in his quickest serve of the 2012 Wimbledon at 147 miles per hour during a second-round contest with Argentine Juan Monaco. Raonic, one of the tournament favourites, eventually lost to Monaco in a thrilling five-set encounter, with the scoreline reading 6-7(5), 6-3, 7-6(5), 6-7(5), 6-4.

The Canadian’s ruthless serving made him a feared opponent on the ATP tour and was crucial during his 2016 Wimbledon campaign, when he reached the finals.

In a second-round match against Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon 2010, Dent set a new record for the fastest serve of 148 mph. He held the record for 15 years, and it was finally broken in 2025.

Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard shattered all records in 2025 when he broke Taylor Dent’s record for the fastest serve in SW19 history. Perricard’s serve has always been his biggest weapon, and it allowed him to gain a two-love lead over World No. 5 Taylor Fritz.

However, the American bounced back to take the next two sets dramatically. Both players had to stop play due to the curfew and resumed the next day, with Fritz holding his composure to advance to the next round. Despite the loss, it was Perricard’s serving that grabbed the spotlight.
