11:05 PM This was one of the most thrilling French Open finals ever. The young Stefanos Tsitsipas had a two-set lead to start the contest, but Djokovic did what he does best. The World No. 1 came out on top after a five-set thriller.

Novak Djokovic has now won his second French Open title, repeating his 2016 heroics. He also edges closer to Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal's all-time record by clinching his 19th Grand Slam title. The 34-year-old showed why he is a truly special player tonight. On the other hand, Stefanos Tsitsipas can hold his head high. He played extremely well and there's a bright future ahead of the Greek lad.

10:54 PM Djokovic wins the French Open title, beating Tsitsipas 6-7, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4!

Novak Djokovic wins his second French Open crown! That is his 19th Grand Slam title.

A match that lasted for four hours and 11 minutes. Superhuman stuff from the Serbian, to come back from two sets down. He’s now the first man to win all four majors at least twice in the Open Era.

10:46 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 5-4

And he is still alive! The World No. 5 is trying his best to level and deposits a lush backhand onto the sideline, then Djokovic goes long and will now have to serve for it. The match is also just past the four-hour mark now. A monumental effort from both players!

10:41 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 5-3

Novak Djokovic is now a game away from a 19th Grand Slam title. Tsitsipas will be serving to stay alive in the final.

10:36 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 4-3

How big will that game be! Djokovic was on the brink of winning the match but now this one is tough to call.

10:30 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 4-2

Djokovic goes ahead again and the Greek has to win the next game somehow to have any chance in this one.

10:25 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 3-2

Wait, it's not decided yet! Tsitsipas recovers well from an unsuccessful forehand and it's a first game in four for him. He is clinging on.

10:21 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 3-1

It's too easy for the World No. 1 now. Tsitsipas is speaking to himself and probably needs a tonic from somewhere to lift himself again.

10:17 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 2-1

Djokovic breaks first in the fifth set and he can see the finish line now.

10:10 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 1-1

This is boiling and is very tight now. Tsitsipas can't control his return and Djokovic takes the game.

10:05 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 0-1

The boy from Greece is made of steel! He just wouldn't give up as he takes the first game of the decider.

9:55 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2

https://twitter.com/KhelNow/status/1404112890534064129

It will now be a one set shootout in the final!

This will now come down to the final set. We are going to a fifth set in the French Open final for the first time since 2004, when Argentine Gaston Gaudio had come down from two sets to clinch the title against fellow countryman Guillermo Coria.

9:51 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 2-6, 6-3, 5-2

Looks like it's too late for Tsitsipas as he looks to come back.

9:42 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 2-6, 6-3, 4-0

Perfect game for Novak Djokovic. It looks like we are heading towards a fifth-set in the French Open final for the first time since 2004.

9:40 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 2-6, 6-3, 3-0

Tsitsipas is probably trying to keep points short due to his physical condition. In going for outright winners, he’s ending up with more unforced errors. He’s just lost his rhythm and he’s playing Novak Djokovic.

9:30 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 2-6, 6-3, 2-0

This time a tame backhand winner hands Djokovic the advantage. This is slipping away now from the Greek, and Djokovic has somehow willed himself into the groove.

9:26 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 2-6, 6-3, 1-0

The momentum continues for Djokovic. Tsitsipas looks a bit tighter as the Serb is looking more and more to move him around the court.

9:15 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 2-6, 6-3

Djokovic bites back!

https://twitter.com/KhelNow/status/1404102706717892608

The World No. 1 has kept the match alive. Eighteen majors and the nerves are still jangling, but what a forehand he finds when sent to the corner, Tsitsipas dropping fractionally long with a riposte that’s almost as good. A forehand winner follows, and the comeback is on!

9:09 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 2-6, 5-3

This time, Tsitsipas glances home a winning volley then closes out. There is still work to be done for Djokovic and he will be serving for the set now.

9:05 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 2-6, 5-2

Masterful from the master as he tips one close to the baseline. Djokovic is now one game away from taking this set.

9:00 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 2-6, 4-2

Two double faults but Djokovic can't take advantage of it.

8:55 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 2-6, 4-1

A backhand error from Tsitsipas hands Djokovic the fifth breakpoint. He then serves out wide opens the court, he can only stick his backhand wide! We got ourselves a ball game! Is this the start of a remarkable comeback?

8:40 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 2-6, 2-1

This time the 22-year-old's forehand lets him down but there's a fine one from Djokovic. We’ve not seen many of those today!

8:35 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 2-6, 1-1

For Tsitsipas to play like this in his first major final is very impressive. He’s been solid embroidered with the occasional ripper. A serve out wide followed by a clean-up forehand does the job on this occasion.

8:32 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 2-6, 1-0

Good first game from the Serb. This will need an epic comeback from the World No. 1, but if anyone is capable of doing it it's Djoker.

8:25 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 2-6

Second set also goes the Greek's way!

https://twitter.com/KhelNow/status/1404091168057561091

This is truly remarkable! The 22-year-old is a set away from fulfilling his dream.

8:22 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 2-5

Tsitsipas strengthens his grip on the final. His court position is very interesting, four to five feet behind the line. Can he keep this going?

8:17 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 2-4

Djokovic came from 2-0 down against Lorenzo Musetti, but this is a very different affair. Tsitsipas is in great shape, has great shots and, most of all, he’s ready!

8:13 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 2-3

Quickfire love service hold for Djokovic. He's hanging in there!

8:11 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 1-3

Tsitsipas re-establishes his two-game cushion. Djokovic has played an hour and a half more than his opponent. Is that proving to be a major factor here?

8:07 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 1-2

Djoker might be coming to life. And there's signs of that!

8:04 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7, 0-2

A loopy forehand onto the line sealing the deal this time for Tsitsipas. This is extremely intense now.

7:50 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-7

Tsitsipas wins the first set!

The Greek responds brilliantly to a stunning Djokovic return to earn his second set point. After that, the returns go in, a big forehand follows, and Djokovic can only thrash wide! Stefanos Tsitsipas takes the first set in one hour and eight minutes.

7:38 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-6

Djoker is struggling with his second serves and the World No. 5 takes full advantage. We'll go to a tiebreak now.

7:33 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 6-5

It looked like Tsitsipas felt that game physically – a bad sign if so, not necessarily for this set but considering what it takes to beat Djokovic over the stretch. Djokovic will now serve for the set!

7:27 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 5-5

Djokovic finds an oblique backhand cross-court that renders all that preceded it irrelevant, closing out in short order thereafter. He saves the setpoint under relentless pressure.

7:20 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 4-5

Tsitsipas shows the gamut of his game with an ace, a forehand winner and a volley. The 22-year-old is embracing the pressure.

7:18 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 4-4

Djoker's big forehand to iffy backhand finishes the game in short order.

7:13 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 3-4

The Greek finds a deft drop that Djokovic chases after and can’t flick back over the net. He then clatters into the clay when his foot grips instead of sliding. The Serb might have to come through some victory scars to win this one!

7:08 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 3-3

Third love service game in a row for the World No. 1

7:04 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 2-3

Tsitsipas has Djokovic scurrying to hither before extinguishing his misery with a slam-dunk smash. We’re reaching that elusive point at which both players are playing well simultaneously. Djokovic with a sarcastic thumbs up at the end!

7:00 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 2-2

In the blink of an eye, the pressure is right back on Tsitsipas. This is some match!

6:56 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 1-2

A first Grand Slam final? It doesn't look like so. Tsitsipas reads Djokovic's powerful forehand and plays it across the court. Confident stuff from the Greek.

6:53 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 1-1

A quick response from Djokovic and we are level.

6:50 PM Djokovic vs Tsitsipas: 0-1

Stefanos Tsitsipas starts the game with two double faults but still finds three aces. This has been a cracking start!

6:42 PM The French Open 2021 Men’s Singles final is underway.

6:25 PM The ongoing French Open has been a good tournament for Greek tennis. Tsitsipas has become the country's first-ever representative to make it through to the final. Elsewhere, Maria Sakkari of Greece also won plenty of plaudits for her solid performances on the way to making the semis, notably pulling off a shock victory over Iga Swiatek in straight sets in the quarter-finals. The 22-year-old Tsitsipas will now hope to bring further glory to his nation.

Djokovic, on the other hand, had to battle out a memorable French Open semi-final match with Rafael Nadal. He lost the first set comprehensively but then responded in stunning fashion to claim the following three sets. He will now hope to repeat his 2016 heroics and reclaim the French Open trophy. If the 34-year-old manages to do so tonight, it will be his 19th Grand Slam title. That will mean that Djokovic will be within touching distance of Federer and Nadal's joint-highest mark of 20.
