An old picture of World No. 1 Iga Swiatek with her father has surfaced on the internet after she won the 2024 French Open on Saturday.
Iga Swiatek defeated Italy’s Jasmine Paolini in the 2024 French Open final to win her third consecutive Roland-Garros title. After the win, she quickly went to the stands, where her team and family were sitting. Swiatek was seemingly emotional as she hugged her father and other family members.
Iga Swiatek’s father is Tomasz Swiatek. He is a former Polish rower and also represented his nation at the 1988 Seoul Olympics in the men’s quadruple sculls event. Interestingly, he was awarded Polish honours in a joint ceremony after Iga won her first Grand Slam title at the 2020 French Open.
Iga Swiatek’s dominance in the ongoing campaign has been unparalleled. The Pole has won five WTA titles this season and her performances on hard courts as well as clay have been commendable. Swiatek’s win-loss record this season is 38-4.
However, it’s time for the grass season to get underway. It will commence with the 2024 Libéma Open, scheduled from June 10 to 16. However, tennis enthusiasts can expect to see the five-time Grand Slam champion in action at the Berlin Ladies Open, scheduled from June 17 to 23.

Swiatek’s best result at the Wimbledon Championships came last year, when she reached the quarter-finals at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. She lost to Elina Svitolina in three sets. However, Swiatek will be aiming for her sixth Grand Slam title and first grass court major.
