French Open 2025 Early Predictions: Top five matches to watch on Day 4

Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Iga Swiatek and more will be in action on Day 4.
The French Open 2025 has started and has already given mixed results. From the elimination of Marta Kostyuk in the first round to Carlos Alcaraz’s dominant victory, the tournament promises a joyride of emotions and enthusiasm for the fans for two weeks.
As the third day comes to an end, fans will gear up to follow the stars competing on Day 4. The likes of Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Iga Swiatek and more will be in action on Day 4. Thus, without any further ado, let’s take a look at the top 5 matches on Day 4 of the 2025 French Open.
5. Jannik Sinner vs Richard Gasquet
World No #1 Jannik Sinner will face Frenchman Richard Gasquet in the second round. The two have faced each other three times on the tour, and Sinner holds a flawless 3-0 record. Gasquet was once considered one of the top prospects. In the twilight phase of his tennis career, the 38-year-old Frenchman has become an unlikely candidate for a Grand Slam title.
However, he won’t shy away from giving the two-time Australian Open champion a hard time on the Parisian clay.
Prediction: Jannik Sinner to win in four sets.
4. Madison Keys vs Katie Boulter
Australian Open champion Madison Keys will face British tennis star Katie Boulter in the second round of the 2025 French Open. Interestingly, the two will face each other for the first time on the tour. Keys is seeded seventh, while Boulter was outside the top 32. Both tennis stars haven’t been in their best form on the tour lately, especially in the clay season. As a result, fans can witness an upset on day 4.
Prediction: Katie Boulter to win in three sets.

3. Carlos Alcaraz vs Fabian Marozsan
After beating Giulio Zeppieri in the first round, Carlos Alcaraz will take on Fabian Marozsan next. The Hungarian tennis star got the better of Luca Nardi in the opening round and secured a spot in the second round. The two have faced each other twice, on both occasions, at a 1000 masters event.
Marozsan beat Alcaraz in the Rome Masters in 2023, while the Spaniard completed the redemption at the Indian Wells Masters in 2024.
Prediction: Carlos Alcaraz to win in four sets.
2. Nuno Borges vs Casper Ruud
Two-time runner-up Casper Ruud will lock horns with Portugal’s Nuno Borges. Ruud handed Spain’s Albert Ramos-Viñolas a comfortable defeat in the first round, while Borges played a five-setter against Kyrian Jacquet. Ruud is one of the top favourites to win this year’s French Open, especially after his performance in the Madrid Open.
After giving a commendable performance in the Spanish capital, Ruud only managed to win a single game against Jannik Sinner in the Rome Masters. The Norwegian tennis star is one of the most unpredictable stars on the tour; however, he’s expected to face tough competition from Borges.
Prediction: Casper Ruud to win in three sets.

1. Emma Raducanu vs Iga Swiatek
Iga Swiatek will face Emma Raducanu in the second round of the 2025 French Open. The defending champion has struggled to win a title this year and has been seeded fifth in the tournament. Meanwhile, former US Open champion Raducanu is unseeded. She defeated China’s Wang Xinyu in the first round in three sets. The Briton didn’t score any aces but made fewer errors.
Swiatek beat Rebecca Sramkova in straight sets while dominating the game on first serve. Raducanu has yet to win a match against the former world No #1, and they faced each other earlier this year in the Australian Open. The game will be important for both tennis stars, as Swiatek aims to defend her title, and Raducanu needs a big win to announce herself on the scene.
Prediction: Iga Swiatek to win in straight sets.
