Bublik beat Medvedev in straight sets to win ATP Halle Open 2025.

Alexander Bublik’s purple patch continued, as he deservingly brought up his fourth ATP title and second Halle Open trophy, having won previously in 2023. It was one of the most outrageous campaigns, as he became the first man not named Alcaraz to defeat World No. #1 Jannik Sinner.

He survived tough battles against the Italian, and then Karen Khachanov, coming from a set down to confirm his spot in the finals.

He was trailing 0-6 record on h2h against Daniil Medvedev leading to the finals, but the Kazakh simply gave away no chance whatsoever, to get the job done in straight sets. Bublik has now emerged as a dark-horse for Wimbledon, and will be seeded for the championships, following his title triumph in Halle.

“It’s tough to speak. I had such tough months since last Wimbledon to probably this summer,” said Bublik, who was outside the Top 75 of the ATP Rankings as recently as last month. “I was close to calling it quits after Wimbledon, because I was not enjoying it anymore.

“I promised my coach that I would stay there and keep practising, and after Wimbledon we will make a decision about whether I need to take a couple of months off before trying to come back. Now this is happening. I don’t know. Quarters at the French. Winner here. I have no words”, said the Kazakh.

For Medvedev though, the wait for a title continues, having not won since more than two years. The Russian showed promising signs of return to form, with his victory over World No. #3 Alexander Zverev being the best out of the lot.
