Top five Indian tennis players with highest prize money earned in 2024

Sumit Nagal and Rohan Bopanna are among the top-earning Indian tennis players of the year.

The year 2024 started with Rohan Bopanna teaming up with Australia’s Matthew Ebden to win the Australian Open. Sumit Nagal broke multiple records, also recording a memorable victory in the first round of the Australian Open over Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik.

Yuki Bhambri and Sriram Balaji also performed well at multiple junctures throughout the year. Overall, year 2024 gave Indian tennis fans several moments to enjoy as well as a few occasions to reflect on the system. Thus, on a similar note, let’s take a look at the top five Indian tennis players who earned the most money in 2024:

5. Ramkumar Ramanathan: $81,754

Ramkumar Ramanathan had a difficult year on the tour but still managed to win a few matches. He’s currently ranked #394 in the ATP World rankings, and he accumulated a sum of $54,921 in singles. Meanwhile, 134th in doubles, Ramanathan has earned $26,833 in men’s doubles. The amount sums up to a total of INR 70 lakh.

4. N Sriram Balaji: $126,417

N Sriram Balaji gave multiple praiseworthy performances throughout the year, and he was in some way, a breakout star in Indian tennis. Currently 65th in the ATP doubles rankings, Balaji won the Rovereto Challenger alongside Rithvik Choudary Bollipaand and the Cagliali Challenger, teaming up with Andre Begemann. Balaji reached his career-best ranking of #61 earlier this year in September. He earned a prize money of Rs 1.07 crore.

3. Yuki Bhambri: $221,422

Yuki Bhambri earned an amount of $221,422 in the year, winning two titles. He won the Gstaad Open and the Munich Open alongside his French partner Albano Olivetti in 2024. He also reached the round of 16 of the US Open, eventually losing to the top-seeded pair of Marcel Granoollers and Horacio Zeballos.

2. Sumit Nagal: $682,354

Indian tennis star Sumit Nagal is second on the list as he accumulated prize money of $682,354. He started the year by beating Alexander Bublik in the first round of the Australian Open. Later, he won the Chennai and Heilbronn Challenger. Nagal also achieved his career-best singles ranking of #68 in July. At the end of the year, his form started diminishing as he won only two of his last 15 matches in Challenger and ATP events.

Indian tennis veteran Rohan Bopanna tops the list after earning a mammoth sum of $885,281 in 2024. He started the year by winning the 2024 Australian Open, teaming up home hope Matthew Ebden. They defeated one of the top performing duos of the year, Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori to win the title in Melbourne.

He also became the oldest ATP World No. #1 in tennis history and later won the Miami Open. The pair later reached the semifinals at Roland Garros, eventually losing to Bolelli and Vavassori. After a continuous run of poor performances, Rohan Bopanna teamed up with Ivan Dodig for a couple of tournaments. Bopanna is currently 15th in the rankings, accumulating a total of INR 7.53 crore.
