Mensik clinched his maiden title and prevented Djokovic from a historic career 100.

Jakub Mensik staged a stunning victory to defeat 6-time Miami winner Novak Djokovic, lifting his first ATP title. The Czech overcame a formidable pool of players in his campaign and completed the glory run with a win over his idol.

Djokovic, widely considered the best player in tiebreaks, surprisingly lost both sets 7-4 in breakers. This defeat marks a significant setback for the Serbian, potentially squandering his best opportunity to secure his 100th career title and become the most successful player in Florida’s history. His title drought persists, with his last triumph dating back to the 2023 US Open—excluding the anticipated milestone at the Paris Olympics.

Jakub Mensik became only the second player ranked outside the top 50 to beat Djokovic in an ATP finale. The 19-year-old is the lowest-ranked player to emerge victorious in Miami, and the youngest ever to win more than six tiebreaks at an ATP Masters 1000 event.

This clash showcased a duel between a seasoned legend and a rising star, with the prodigy outshining his idol—perhaps signaling a symbolic passing of the baton.
