The Italian star, who is yet to drop a set, marched into the third round in emphatic fashion, equalling a Roger Federer record along the way while also surpassing Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.
On Thursday, Sinner defeated Alexei Popyrin in straight sets 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 sealing his 23rd consecutive hard-court win at Grand Slams. The victory also gave him a 41–9 win-loss record on hard courts from his first 50 Grand Slam matches. This record places him level with Federer.
Federer, 20-time Grand Slam champion, leads the chart among the tennis giants, with Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic trailing just behind at 40–10 in their first 50 Grand Slam matches on hard courts.
