Jannik Sinner’s projected path to Miami Open 2026 final

Sinner will aim for the Sunshine Double in Miami.
Jannik Sinner reversed two months of heartbreak he had to face in the early stages of the 2026 season. The Italian was unable to defend his Australian Open title and was eliminated in the quarter-finals in Doha.
The World No. 2 made amends with a title at the 2026 Indian Wells Open, winning the ATP 1000 event without dropping a set. Sinner has now won all six hard-court Masters events following the title run on Sunday.
The 24-year-old is now one of three men on a very exclusive list, featuring Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer, to have achieved the same feat.
He will look to add the 2026 Miami Open trophy to his collection and win the Sunshine Double. If he prevails in Florida, it will be his second title in Miami and seventh Masters title overall.
At the 2026 Miami Open, the Florida humidity will likely pose more of a challenge to Sinner than the journey to a potential second Miami Open title.
Jannik Sinner projected path to Miami Open 2026 title
Round 2 — Damir Dzumhur
Damir Dzumhur and Sinner have never faced off on the professional tour, making a potential second-round encounter their first career head-to-head. Dzumhur, a former Top 30 player, has never made it beyond the fourth round in Miami.
The 33-year-old Bosnian journeyman made an opening round exit at the recently concluded Indian Wells Open to Britain’s Jacob Fearnley.
Round 3 – Corentin Moutet/Tomas Machac
The last time Moutet and Sinner crossed paths was at Roland Garros in 2024, the Frenchman’s home event. Their fourth-round match in Paris and their first head-to-head ended with the Italian posting a four-set win.
Moutet is all set to make his second appearance at Miami, having lost to Chilean Alejandro Tabilo in the second-round last year.
History favours Sinner in a potential match against Czech Tomas Machac, whom he leads 3-0 in the men’s tour. The 25-year-old Machac is yet to take a set off the World No. 2. The Czech World No. 48 has lost both their meetings at the ATP 1000 level at Miami and Shanghai, both in 2024.
Round 4 — Andrey Rublev/Cameron Norrie
Either Rublev or Norrie will greet Sinner if he makes it to the fourth round in Miami.
Rublev and Sinner previously crossed paths at the 2023 Miami Open, one of four meetings at the Masters 1000 level. The Italian has won three of those (Monte Carlo, Miami and Cincinnati), while the Russian managed to sneak in a win in Canada.
Their most recent meeting was in the fourth round of the 2025 French Open, with Sinner leading 7-3 after their Paris rendezvous.
Sinner could meet Norrie in a maiden tour-level meeting. The Italian will be wary of the British left-hander’s ability to punch above his weight. It has been two years since Norrie picked up a title on the men’s tour. Though he won at Indian Wells in 2021, he has yet to make a deep run in Florida.
Quarter-finals — Jakub Mensik/Arthur Rinderknech
A first-ever meeting between Mensik and Sinner at the 2026 Qatar Open concluded with Sinner on the losing side. Mensik got the better of Sinner in straight sets as the Italian fell short of a meaningful Middle East swing for another year.
Mensik is the defending champion in Miami, where the 20-year-old defeated six-time champion Novak Djokovic in the finals.
Arthur Rinderknech is something of a wildcard on tour. The big-serving Frenchman has the ability to test higher-ranked players but lacks consistency. Rinderknech reached the title round at the Shanghai Masters last year, his first ATP 1000 final and trails Sinner 3-1 in their head-to-head.
Semi-finals — Daniil Medvedev/Alexander Zverev

A potential semi-final face-off with familiar foes Medvedev (9-7 win-loss) or Alexander Zverev (7-4 win-loss) await the Italian World No. 2 at the business end of the Miami Open.
Sinner flipped the script against Medvedev since losing the Miami Open 2023 finals to the Russian. The Italian has won nine of their previous 10 matches, including a tightly contested final at Indian Wells a few days ago.
The Italian’s five-set loss at Wimbledon 2024 to Medvedev was the only blip in an otherwise unbeaten win streak against Medvedev since the 2023 Miami Open.
The rivalry with Zverev has been lopsided, with the Italian winning their last six matches since the fourth-round loss to Zverev at the 2023 US Open. Sinner leads the German 6-0 since the 2024 Cincinnati Open, which included a three-match win streak at ATP 1000 events.
Finals — Carlos Alcaraz/Joao Fonseca

This could be the Sinacraz final that was teased to the audience in California last week. Their anticipated clash in the title round at Indian Wells did not take place after Medvedev defeated Alcaraz in the last four.
The 2026 Miami Open could see another chapter of the storied rivalry between Carlos Alcaraz and Sinner. A title round clash is certainly overdue, as they haven’t played since their face-off in the year-ending 2025 ATP Finals.
That Joao Fonseca is a serious threat to Sinner would be an understatement. The young Brazilian gave Sinner a run for his money at their maiden clash in the recently concluded Indian Wells Open.
Their Round of 16 clash in California lived up to its hype. Sinner scraped through in two sets, with Fonseca making a match of it by extending both sets into tiebreaks.
