World No. #1 Jannik Sinner is yet to reach the final at Wimbledon.

While seeds continued to fall around him, Jannik Sinner went about his business against fellow Italian Luca Nardi in the first round. After starting off a bit rusty, the World No. 1 resumed his Roland Garros domination, winning the match in straight sets.

What stood out for Sinner were his winning statistics, as he hammered 9 aces on his path to victory. The three-time Grand Slam champion enjoyed a success rate of 84% and 76% on first and second serves respectively, and did not face a single break point throughout the contest.

Match details

  • Venue: Centre Court, All England Club, London, UK

Preview

Sinner is now set to face Australia’s Aleksandar Vukic, who overcame Taiwan’s Tseng Chun-hsin in the first round. Vukic has won roughly half of his matches this season, but notably, all four of his grass-court appearances in 2025 ended in first-round exits.

Apart from his home Slam at the start of the year, where he managed to reach the third round, Vukic has struggled to string together consecutive wins throughout the first six months of the season.

Now, coming off a series of average performances, the 29-year-old faces the daunting challenge of taking on the red-hot World No. 1, who has impressively reached the final in three of the four events he has played this year.

Sinner is yet to lose to the Aussie, with their latest outing taking place in 2022, at Sofia. However, Wimbledon R2 will mark their maiden exchange on grass.

Match prediction

Wimbledon 2025 has been engulfed with one upset after another, but don’t expect a surprise here. Sinner is far too strong and well-prepared to be troubled by Vukic, who hasn’t inspired much confidence with his recent form. The top seed will look to capitalize on a relatively smooth draw but will remain cautious given the unpredictable atmosphere of the tournament and won’t take anything lightly.

Result: Jannik Sinner to win in straight sets.
