On the other hand, the world No. 29 Denis Shapovalov booked his spot in third round after beating Valentin Royer in a tough four-set battle (7-6(6), 3-6, 7-6(4), 6-3) in the second round.

The Canadian also defeated Marton Fucsovics comfortably in the opener (6-4, 6-4, 6-0). Shapovalov carries a 21-16 record in 2025, with 13-8 on hard courts.
