Jannik Sinner vs Terence Atmane prediction, betting tips & odds, head-to-head, preview: Cincinnati Open 2025

Jannik Sinner is aiming the first men’s singles player since Federer in 2015 to successfully defending his title at Cincinnati.

On a rampaging run, ATP World No. 1 Jannik Sinner faces unseeded Terence Atmane in the semi-finals at Cincinnati, with a title clash against Carlos Alcaraz or Alexander Zverev awaiting the winner. Sinner, defending champion in Cincinnati, will start as the favourite.

Frenchman Terence Atmane made the last four at Cincinnati by defeating No. 7 seed Holger Rune 6-2, 6-3 in just 74 minutes, becoming the first qualifier to reach the semi-finals since 2015. Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov was the last qualifier to make the semi-finals in Cincinnati, where he lost to Novak Djokovic in three sets.

Atmane’s victory over Rune was his second top-ten win at the ATP 1000 event. In the fourth round, the Frenchman ousted World No. 4 Taylor Fritz, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 for the biggest win of his career. The 136th-ranked Atmane rises to No. 69 in the live rankings ahead of his maiden tour-level clash with Jannik Sinner.

Top seed Sinner made short work of Felix Auger-Aliassime to earn his first win against the Canadian in four meetings. The World No. 1 secured the 6-0, 6-2 result in 71 minutes, winning 78% of his first serve points against Auger-Aliassime.

Felix was leading 3-0 in h2h before their Cincinnati Open clash, having defeated the Italian at the Masters level each time. Sinner’s quarter-final win gave him his 25th straight win on hardcourts.

Preview

Terence Atmane is enjoying a remarkable run at the 2025 Cincinnati Open, advancing from qualifying to his first ATP 1000 semi-final. Despite entering the event with a 1-4 win-loss record, he upset top-ranked American Taylor Fritz and then Holger Rune to make the last four.

Sinner was back to his usual clinical self against Auger-Aliassime. By Sinner’s lofty standards, he had rather pedestrian outings against Gabriel Diallo and Adrian Mannarino. The Italian’s maiden victory over Auger-Aliassime was as one-sided as it gets, with the Canadian’s error-prone game giving away 28 unforced errors and eight double faults. It was a gift Sinner readily accepted.

Sinner remains on track to defend his Cincinnati Open title, despite being pushed by Adrian Mannarino in a tough second-set tiebreak. Sinner aims to become the first man to defend his Cincinnati Open title since Roger Federer in 2015.

Match prediction

Sinner will make his way courtside for the semi-final against Terence Atmane with an impressive, undefeated hard-court run and without dropping a set in Ohio. The dominant 6–0, 6–2 quarter-final win underlines his consistency. The Italian will be placing on the line a second straight title round appearance at the venue.

Terence Atmane’s stellar run at the event poses a real threat to Sinner. The French qualifier fought his way through qualifying before upsetting two top-ranked players—Taylor Fritz and Holger Rune, en route to the semi-final. He arrives with confidence and momentum and has nothing to lose when he takes on the top seed.

That said, Sinner looks near certain to win. The five-time Grand Slam champion’s experience and his ability to absorb pressure will be enough to keep him afloat in the face of Atmane’s fearless shot-making.

While the face-off has a sense of inevitability to it, an inspired Atmane can push Sinner to the brink, but that may not be enough to find a way past the top seed.

Result: Jannik Sinner to win in three sets.
