Jannik Sinner’s Cincinnati Open final against Carlos Alcaraz ended in just 22 minutes.

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner has pulled out of the US Open 2025 mixed doubles event, just hours before his scheduled first-round match alongside Katerina Siniakova.

The withdrawal comes on the heels of his abrupt and unsettling exit from the Cincinnati Open final, where he experienced what he described as a “collapse-like” situation against arch-rival Carlos Alcaraz.

After trailing 0-5 in the opening set, Sinner told the chair umpire, “I feel like I can collapse at any moment.” The match was halted after just 22 minutes, handing the Spaniard the title.

Although his name remained in the US Open mixed doubles draw initially, it was clear that recovery within 24 hours was not possible.

On Tuesday, just before his Round of 16 clash against Alexander Zverev and Belinda Bencic, the US Open organizers confirmed his withdrawal just as expected.

Congrats to Carlos Alcaraz and his team, you’re having an incredible season, and I wish you all the best for what’s ahead. Now it’s time to rest a couple of days before getting back to work,” he added.

Now, there were concerns regarding his participation at the US Open singles draw. For that, the Italian confirmed that he is hoping to recover before defending his crown in New York. In a statement released by the ATP, Sinner said, “I love Grand Slams a lot—they are the main tournaments of my season and my career.
