Jannik Sinner vs Carlos Alcaraz: Who has won most big titles?

Alcaraz leads Sinner 8-5 in their head-to-head rivalry.
The new generation of men’s singles tennis revolves around the two most promising young sensations—Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. They have now clashed in consecutive Grand Slam finals, sharing a win apiece. While Alcaraz took Roland Garros title after a marathon match, Sinner kept it down to four sets at Wimbledon, where he dethroned Alcaraz to become the new champion.
Jannik Sinner burst into action during the second half of 2023. The Italian has enjoyed an extraordinary purple patch ever since, winning Grand Slams and several ATP titles, albeit a blip of three months during which he was banned for doping.
However, there has been no catching the 23-year-old since his return, as he’s raced to the finals of all but one event and has also held on to his ATP World No. 1 crown. Sinner’s latest feat is beating Alcaraz to the Wimbledon 2025 title, his first at the grass court major.
Meanwhile, the 22-year-old, Carlos Alcaraz was the first between the two to claim a Grand Slam title as well as the year-end No. #1 position. While Sinner rally sprang into the limelight in mid-2023, Alcaraz was by then an US Open champion, and World No. 1.
He has since gone on to do the double at both Wimbledon and Roland Garros and until the 2025 Wimbledon, had a 5-0 win/loss record in Grand Slam finals.

To Sinner’s credit though, he had an all-time season in 2024, encapsulated by 74 wins, both hard court slams (Australian Open & US Open), ATP Finals as well as the year-end World No. 1 finish
Sinner’s longest win streak in 2024 extended to 16 matches. He repeated the feat twice. The first began in Melbourne in January, where he won his maiden Grand Slam in the Indian Wells Masters semi-finals, where he lost to Carlos Alcaraz.
In this article, we discuss who among the two has won more big titles in their still young tennis career as they establish themselves as the face of men’s singles tennis for the next decade.

Sinner – 4
Alcaraz – 5
Carlos Alcaraz won his maiden Grand Slam at the 2022 US Open where he cruised past Casper Ruud in four sets. He extended his dominance with a statement victory at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships when he downed seven-time Wimbledon winner Novak Djokovic in a nerve-wracking five-setter.
The Spaniard successfully defended his title in London a season later, beating the Serbian yet again in dominating fashion. Alcaraz also won his maiden Roland Garros, staging a fabulous comeback to beat Alexander Zverev in the finale. In a repeat, he then survived match points and a marathon five-setter to defend his “Clay Crown” against Sinner.
Meanwhile, Jannik Sinner is a four-time Slam winner with all his wins coming post 2024. He began the new year with an inspired run Down Under, beating 10-time Australian Open winner Novak Djokovic and later Daniil Medvedev in a miraculous turnaround from two sets down in the title clash.
The Italian then shut the outside noise regarding the doping scandal and triumphed at the US Open in the same year. The 23-year-old once again began the new season with a win in Melbourne, becoming the first Italian to defend his crown and the youngest man since 1993 to retain his title Down Under.
He also reached his maiden final in Paris but was denied by Alcaraz despite being ahead by two sets and a point away from the title. Sinner though wouldn’t be denied at the All England Club as survived a tough yet fortunate outing in the fourth round against Grigor Dimitrov, saw off Djokovic and beat Alcaraz for a maiden Wimbledon crown.

In Singles, Alcaraz reached the gold match, becoming the youngest (21 years, 2 months) to reach the men’s singles final at the Olympics. However, he fell to Djokovic in straight sets and had to settle for a silver. In a fabulous battle of high-quality tennis, the Serbian overpowered the Spanish.
