Jessica Pegula withdraws from Singapore Open 2026 due to fatigue
The WTA 500 tournament has lost its top seed
World No. 3 Jessica Pegula has confirmed her withdrawal from the Singapore Open 2026, citing fatigue after a demanding run of tournaments in North America over the last month. The tournament will take place at the OCBC Arena in The Kallang from September 21 to 27.
The American star was set to be the top-seeded player at the WTA 500 event in Singapore. However, having undergone a demanding stretch where she played 19 matches in just over a month, Pegula took to social media to announce that she is “not quite ready” to return to competition.
“I’m really disappointed to have to withdraw from Singapore,” she wrote. “After a long and physically demanding few weeks at the US Open, I’m just not quite ready to get back on court and compete at the level I expect from myself.”
“I was really looking forward to playing in Singapore and hope I can come back in the future.”
Pegula has had a congested hard-court schedule, beginning with the Washington DC Open, where she finished as the runner-up. She then reached the Round of 16 at the Canadian Open.
She played six matches at the Cincinnati Open, finishing as the runner-up. The American star also took part in the US Open, winning her opening five matches at Flushing Meadows before losing to Aryna Sabalenka in the semi-finals.
