This year, the Swiss Maestro has returned to the tournament as a spectator. On the first day of the tournament, he was seen playing tennis before he spent time with the players. Again, he greeted the four-time Grand Slam champion.

The eight-time Wimbledon champion also addressed Alcaraz’s playing style and areas of improvement. Federer said, “I think his intensity, the power in his shots, already his physical capabilities that he has. He’s gotta be careful he doesn’t run for basically every ball. because it’s not necessary…but he’ll learn with age and with time.”

However, he also lauded the 2024 Paris Olympics silver medalist and stated that his win over 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic in the final of the 2023 Wimbledon Championships, was his arrival in the tennis world as a star.

Federer added (as per the Australian Open): “But he’s also very strong when it matters the most you know, I’m thinking back right now when he beat Novak in the Wimbledon finals; you know fifth set, this is stuff that we know that Novak, you know thrives and plays at the absolute best. And for Carlos to come through that, I mean, for me, that’s when he showed like, okay, he’s the guy.”
