Five longest indoor hard court winning streaks in Open Era men's singles tennis

Jannik Sinner has become the latest name to join the list of longest winning streaks on indoor hard court.
Since the 2024 Australian Open, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have been dominating the tour, winning four Grand Slam titles each, in addition to numerous other titles.
Both tennis stars are currently competing against each other while also breaking numerous records created by former players and icons.
Sinner and Alcaraz have their own weaknesses and strengths, as they faced each other seven times in 2025 (excluding the Six Kings Slam). One such strength that Sinner has is controlling the tempo on fast-paced indoor hard courts.
With that, he’s currently riding a 31-match unbeaten streak on indoor hard courts. The Italian tennis star has recently joined the elite list of icons who have made a dominant impact in the sport.
Thus, without any further ado, let’s take a look at the five longest indoor hard-court winning streaks in the Open Era.
longest indoor hard court winning streaks in ATP Open Era men’s singles:
5. Jannik Sinner: 31 wins

With his semi-final triumph over Australia’s Alex de Minaur, Jannik Sinner overtook Roger Federer’s 29-match unbeaten streak at indoor hard courts, which he accumulated between 2010 and 2012.
The Italian tennis star is currently on a 31-match unbeaten streak after he defeated Carlos Alcaraz to win the ATP Finals. Out of his 31 wins, 28 have come in straight sets. Sinner’s winning percentage in indoor matches is 81.1.
4. Ivan Lendl: 32 wins

Former Czech-American tennis star Ivan Lendl went unbeaten on the tour for 32 matches on indoor hard court between 1980 and 1983.
Lendl was famous for his strong game as an aggressive baseliner, which helped him adapt quickly to the fast-paced surface.
He played during the time when carpet was also a well-recognised surface; however, his statistics only include the wins on indoor hard courts. Lendl has a winning percentage of 83% indoors.

3. Roger Federer: 33 wins

Roger Federer’s record of 29 consecutive wins between 2010 and 2012 has been overtaken by Sinner; however, the Swiss maestro still holds a spot in the list, courtesy of the record he created while being at the pinnacle of the rankings from 2004 to 2007.
Federer famously held the world no. 1 ranking for four years between 2004 and 2008; it was one of the most dominant runs ever produced by a player in tennis in the Open Era. In the same period, the eight-time Wimbledon champion won 33 consecutive matches on indoor hard courts.

1. John McEnroe: 47 matches

John McEnroe’s prowess on indoor hard courts seems impossible to be paralleled in the future.
