Naomi Osaka vs Liudmila Samsonova preview
Naomi Osaka recorded a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Belgium’s Greet Minnen in the first round in one hour and 27 minutes. Minnen made her way into the main draw by winning qualifiers. During the game, the Japanese tennis star looked confident, as it seemed like she was finally back to tennis with full strength.
Not to forget, Naomi Osaka is a four-time singles Grand Slam champion, who has been away from the game in the last couple of years because of pregnancy and her mental health. Since her return, Osaka has recorded eight wins in 15 matches. Moreover, she also reached the quarterfinals of the 2024 Miami Open.
On the other side, Liudmila Samsonova has failed to get a decent start to her season. The Russian tennis star has played 13 matches on the tour this year, winning only four. However, she reached the semi-final of the Abu Dhabi Open, where she lost against the eventual winner, Elena Rybakina.

Prediction
Naomi Osaka has already recorded a victory over Liudmila Samsonova earlier this season, and her experience might help her repeat the story at the 2024 Madrid Open. The four-time Grand Slam champion has the experience of competing on a big level, as she has also achieved the top ranking in the WTA. Osaka is no stranger to pressure, and underestimating her on-court prowess will be a huge mistake.
However, Samsonova might have suffered a disappointing defeat against Naomi Osaka at Indian Wells earlier this year, but she might be aiming for retribution from the former WTA World No. 1 in the Spanish capital. The Russian tennis star can trouble Osaka with her accuracy and groundstrokes. Moreover, her versatility will also be a plus point for her in the Madrid Open clash.
Result: Naomi Osaka to win in three sets.
