Rafael Nadal will face Jiri Lehecka in Round of 16 at the 2024 Madrid Open.
After Rafael Nadal defeated Pedro Cachin in a three-set thriller on April 29, the Argentine tennis star asked the Spaniard for something from his belongings. Interestingly, Nadal quickly fulfilled Cachin’s wish and gave him his shirt.
Rafael Nadal defeated Pedro Cachin 6-1, 6-7 (7-5), 6-3 in the Spanish capital in a thrilling contest that lasted more than three hours. After the match ended, the 22-time Grand Slam winner embraced Cachin and the two tennis stars also had a conversation at the net.
The Argentine tennis star said, “Thank you very much, you fulfilled my dream, thank you. I don’t know if you can but I want to ask you, can I keep your shirt or towel or something?” Rafael Nadal replied to Cachin saying, “Yes, I’ll give you now, it would be more necessary. Luck with everything.”
Later, the Spaniard went to Cachin’s bench and gave him his t-shirt as the duo hugged again. The Argentine tennis player also took to Instagram and uploaded a picture of Nadal’s t-shirt, where he also thanked the multiple-time Grand Slam winner. He wrote, “THANK YOU, @rafaelnadal, it was a dream. How cute is this.”
Here is his social media story:

After the match, Nadal addressed his physical condition and gave a positive fitness update to the tennis world. The 22-time Grand Slam champion stated that he felt something was wrong after his match against Jordan Thompson at the 2024 Australian Open. The next morning, the issue flared and he wasn’t feeling well.
However, after his win over Pedro Cachin, he stated that he was feeling well but would wait until the next morning to be sure about his health. Nadal said, “It’s positive, because as I said in Spanish, now I don’t feel that something went wrong with my body, but I need to wait until tomorrow, to be 100% honest.”
In the Round of 16 at the 2024 Madrid Open, Rafael Nadal will face Jiri Lehecka on Tuesday, April 30. Lehecka, seeded 30th, has defeated Hamad Medjedovic and Thiago Monteiro in the earlier rounds to secure a spot in this round.
