Hello and welcome to Khel Now’s live blog for Rohan Bopanna-Matt Ebden vs Marcel Granollers-Horacio Zeballos semi-final clash at the Miami Open 2024. Please wait for the blog to load.

In a high profiled game, top seeded men’s doubles pair, Rohan Bopanna and Mathew Ebden are going to face the fourth seeded Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos in the semi-final match of the Miami Open 2024

After a disappointing end to their Indian Wells Masters campaign, Bopanna and Ebden have made a strong comeback in the ongoing Miami Open. They first defeated Andrea Vavassori and Simone Boleii (4-6, 7-6 (4), 10-4) in the Round of 32, followed by a win against JanZielinski and Hugo Nys (7-5, 7-6(3)) in the Round of 16.

Before entering the semi-final round, they defeated the team of Sem Verbeek and John Patrick Smith (3-6, 7-6, 10-7) in the quarter-final.

On the other hand, Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos have maintained their form in the ongoing tournament. They started their campaign in Miami Open 2024 by defeating the team of Fabien Reboul and Sadio Dioumbia (3-6, 6-3, 10-5) in the Round of 32, which was followed by a dominating performance in the Round of 16, where they defeated the team of Mate Pavic and Marcelo Arevalo (7-5, 6-3).

In the quarter-final round, they faced Lloyd Glasspool and Jean-Juilen Rojer. The match entered into a tough battle, which at last ended with Granollers and Zeballos out classing their opponent and winning it by 7-6, 3-6, 12-10 sets.

Rohan Bopanna/Mathew Ebden vs Marcel Granollers/Horacio Zeballos preview

Although Bopanna and Ebden had a brilliant start in 2024 as they ended up as runner-up at the Australian Open, they have suffered some early exits in tournaments after the feat.

In the Dubai Tennis Championships, the duo could only make it to the quarter-final where they got defeated by Adam Pavlasek and Ariel Behar. Even in the other hard court tournament before the Miami Open, the Indian Wells Masters, the duo lost their very first match.

Granollers and Zeballos also had an excellent start to the year as they secured the runner-up title at the ASB Classic. Unfortunately, they had to face an exit in the third round of the Australian Open, but they made a comeback at the Argentina Open and again secured the runner-up title.

Before entering into the Indian Wells Masters, they faced a setback at the Rio Open where they lost their first match to Andrea Vavassori and Simone Bolelli. With a strong and determined performance, they again secured the runner-up title in the Indian Wells Masters, taking their tally to third runner-up finish in 2024.

Prediction

In 2024, Bopanna and Ebden have played a total of 12 men’s doubles matche, in which they managed to win nine and lost three. One of the losses also came in the final of the Australian Open.

Comparatively, Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos have better stats in 2024. They have played 20 matches and have won 15 of them, while in five they had to face defeat. Even their performance at Indian Wells Masters, also a hard court tournament, was much better than their opponent in the next match.

When we talk about the prediction of the upcoming match between the heavyweights of the game, irrespective of the stats, Rohan Bopanna and Mathew Ebden will definitely enter the match as favourites.
