Rune, Musetti, and Co. will aim to knock off top seeds on clay.

The Monte Carlo Masters is an annual tennis tournament founded in 1896. Classified as an ATP 1000 Masters event, it is held at Roquebrune-Cap-Martin in France on clay courts.

Andrey Rublev in singles and the duo of Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek in the doubles category are the defending champions, having won the title in 2023. Rafael Nadal holds the record for the most titles at this event, with 11 to his name.

In addition to established tennis stars, the tennis tournament also provides a platform for emerging young players to showcase their talent. This year, in 2024, several youngsters could pose a threat to the top-ranked players.

Here’s a look at three such players whose performances are likely to attract the attention of the tennis world.

Youngsters to watch at Monte Carlo Masters 2024

Holger Rune (20)

The 20-year-old Danish player is steadily climbing the ranks with consistent performances on the tennis court. Currently ranked No. 7 in the ATP men’s singles rankings, he recently achieved his 100th career win by defeating Pablo Llamas Ruiz at the Open Sud de France.

Rune’s most notable performances this year include reaching the semifinals at both the Open Sud de France and the Mexican Open. Additionally, he has made it to the quarterfinals of Grand Slam tournaments three times in his career, with two appearances at the French Open and one at Wimbledon.

Lorenzo Musetti (22)

Another name that comes to mind when discussing the young talents at the 2024 Monte Carlo Masters is Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti. Currently ranked 26th in the ATP men’s singles rankings, Musetti reached the quarterfinals in the last edition of the tournament.

He also made it to the fourth round of the 2023 French Open, which speaks to his performance on clay courts. He will undoubtedly aim to improve his statistics at the upcoming tournament and pose a threat to the top-seeded players.

Arthur Cazaux (21)

Arthur Cazaux, the promising young talent from France, is one to watch at the ATP Monte Carlo Masters. Currently ranked 74th in the ATP men’s singles category, Arthur has advanced to the fourth round of the 2024 Australian Open.

His standout performance came at the 2024 Challenger Noumea, NC, where he clinched the title by overcoming Enzo Couacaud in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1.
