Yuki Bhambri & Albano Olivetti clinch ATP 250 Munich Open 2024 men's doubles title

Yuki Bhambri has reached his career-best ranking of 56 after the win.
Yuki Bhambri and Albano Olivetti defeated the German duo of Andreas Mies and Jan-Lennard Struff to win the ATP 250 Munich Open 2024 on Sunday (April 21) in straight sets.
Indo-French pair defeated the German pair 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-5) to bag their first title as a pair this year. For Bhambri. Additionally, with the resounding triumph, Bhambri has reached his career-best ranking of 56 in the live doubles rankings.
On their route to the final, Mies and Struff defeated the fourth-seeded duo of Ariel Behar & Adam Pavlasek in the quarterfinals and Victor Vlad Cornea & Theo Arribage in the semi-final within two sets.
Bhambri and Olivetti started their campaign in Munich with an astounding win over the hot favorites, the third-seeded Belgian pair Sander Gillé and Joran Vliegen, in three sets. Moreover, they also eliminated the defending champions, Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler, 6-1, 6-7 (5-7), and 10-7, respectively, to book a berth in the final.
The Munich Open was Bhambri’s second ATP doubles title after he won silverware alongside South Africa’s Lloyd Harris in Mallorca last year.

Apart from Bhambri, the Indian pair of Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha and Rithvik Choudary Bollipalli also displayed their on-court prowess on Sunday. Poonacha and Bollipalli defeated the top-seeded pair of Luke Johnson and Skander Mansouri in the final of the GNP Seguros Tennis Open, also known as the Acapulco Challengers, with a scoreline of 7-6 (6-4), 7-5.

Indian tennis player Anirudh Chandrasekar also teamed up with Mexico’s Hans Hach for the tournament. However, they were eliminated 6-3, 6-4, in the semifinals by Poonacha and Bollipalli. Another Indian pair, Arjun Kadhe and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan, were seeded fourth in the Acapulco Challengers. Nevertheless, their campaign ended early, as Antoine Bellier and Luca Sanchez defeated them in the round of 16.
