Novak Djokovic secures 16th career Top 4 finish, one better than arch rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
Novak Djokovic continues to break records with his latest accolade, cementing his place in ATP history as he becomes the oldest player to end a season among the ATP’s elite quartet.
The Serb shows no signs of slowing down, with his longevity matching that of Jimmy Connors. The American was winning tournaments well into his 30s and has a record 109 singles titles and 1274 match wins to his name.
Despite the presence of much younger rivals on tour, the Serb has secured a 16th career Top 4 finish to conclude the 2025 season. At 38 years and 5 months, Djokovic is two months older than Roger Federer when the Swiss set the record in 2019. Federer and Rafael Nadal are tied at 15 for most ATP Top 4 finishes.
A Top 4 finish in the 2026 season will see the Serbian legend draw alongside Federer (7) for most Top 4 finishes among men over 30. Novak Djokovic has spent the most weeks (428) as ATP No. 1, more than any other player on the men’s tour.
In 2025, Djokovic reached the semi-finals at all four majors and won his 100th and 101st tour-level titles at ATP 250 events in Geneva and Athens. The Serb became the oldest ATP champion when he won the 2025 Hellenic Championship in Athens earlier this month.
In August last year, Djokovic finally laid his hands on the only trophy missing from his cabinet – an Olympic Gold. The Serb, 37, overcame Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets to become the oldest male gold medalist in singles.
He also completed the Golden Slam, one of just five to do so – winning all four Grand Slams and an Olympic Gold. The former World No. 1 is now in distinguished company. He joins Steffi Graf, Andre Agassi, Rafael Nadal, and Serena Williams, who have also achieved the feat.
Djokovic expressed a desire to represent Serbia in the 2028 Summer Olympics as a future goal. He withdrew from the year-ending ATP Finals despite qualifying.
The tennis icon’s last win on the Grand Slam stage came at the 2023 US Open. He will renew his bid for a record 25th Grand Slam title at the 2026 Australian Open. Djokovic has won in Melbourne a record 10 times and is one shy of 100 match wins at the venue.
