The 38-year-old, Novak Djokovic, is also chasing Federer’s record of eight titles at the grass major.

Novak Djokovic is playing his best tennis of 2025, as he outplayed local hope Dan Evans in front of the British crowd in the second round of Wimbledon 2025. The Serbian began with some quality serving, and looked to break in the fifth game, but the Brit managed to save two break points.

Similar course followed, as Evans even saved three straight break points. It was finally a double-fault which allowed Djokovic to gain a lead. However, once the seven-time champion sealed the opening set, one-sided domination began.

The World No. 6 gave hardly anything away to the Brit, who did not have the power to break-through the Serbian’s impeccable defense. In the end, it was a walk in the park for Djokovic, who won the third and final set, 6-0.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion delivered one of the most flawless performances of the tournament, firing 46 winners and committed just 14 unforced errors, while losing only nine points on serve throughout the entire match.

History was made during Djokovic’s commanding second-round win, as the Serbian secured his 19th appearance in the Wimbledon third round, going clear of Federer’s record (18) for most men’s singles third-round appearances at the grass major in the Open Era.

A seven-time champion and 10-time finalist — including six consecutive finals in the last six editions — Djokovic once again looks primed for another deep run at the All England Club this year.

More history beckons for Novak Djokovic, who will play for his 100th win at Wimbledon, in the third round. His victory over Evans brought up his 99th victory at the prestigious Slam. Should he get there, he will become only the second player after Federer, to win 100+ matches at two majors.

Djokovic has a tough path this year, seeded sixth, but has looked the best player in the men’s circuit by far. An all Serbian-clash awaits Djoker, as he will meet Miomir Kecmanović next, for a round of 16 berth.

Djokovic is projected to face Alex de Minaur in the fourth round, World No. 4 and home favourite Jack Draper in the quarter-final, and then potentially meet World No. 1 Jannik Sinner in a second consecutive Grand Slam semi-final.

If he navigates this challenging path, he could contend for a historic 25th major title, possibly facing two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in the championship match.
