Novak Djokovic vs Alexander Zverev prediction, betting tips & odds, head-to-head, preview: French Open 2025

Djokovic and Zverev headed for first Roland Garros clash since 2019.
Novak Djokovic is yet to concede a set in the ongoing French Open as he eased into the last eight with a 6-2, 6-3, 6-2 win over Cameron Norrie. The 38-year-old Djokovic appears to be back on track after opening round exits Monte Carlo and Madrid, both clay court ATP 1000s. Djokovic defeated Norrie in Geneva en route to his 100th tour-level title, and by overcoming the Briton in Paris, he has notched up his 100th win in Roland Garros.
With the clay-court major now at its business end, Djokovic will take on last year’s runner-up Alexander Zverev in the last eight. At stake is the Serb’s first semi-final since 2023. It is the first time since 2019 that Djokovic and Zverev will meet in Roland Garros. Djokovic emerged victorious with a 7-5, 6-2, 6-2 scoreline on that occasion.
Zverev benefited from a Tallon Griekspoor retirement in their fourth-round match-up. The German was leading 6-4, 3-0 when the Dutchman called it a day. Zverev, the World No. #3, has reached the semi-final stage in each of the four previous editions of the French Open. In 2024, Zverev made the title round in Paris for the first time, but succumbed to Carlos Alcaraz in a five-setter, 3-6, 6-2, 7-5, 1-6, 2-6.

Preview
Zverev has been a picture of consistency at Roland Garros, having made the quarter-finals every year since 2018. The sole exception being in 2020, when he lost in the fourth round to Jannik Sinner. The German will look to make a fifth successive semi-final in Paris at Djokovic’s expense.
Djokovic has never lost to Zverev in a Grand Slam event, the loss to Zverev in Melbourne this year coming by way of retirement in the semi-finals. The German World No. #3 experienced a dip in form and fortune after reaching the finals in Melbourne. Zverev’s first title in 2025 came at the ATP 500 event in Munich. Failure to capitalise on that success led to early exits in Madrid, Rome and Hamburg.
With a potential face-off against top seed Jannik Sinner brewing, a dominant performance by the victor in the Djokovic vs Zverev face-off could set the tone for the semi-final clash.

Match prediction
A series of efficient performances in the opening week of the 2025 French Open has brought the competing duo – Djokovic and Zverev to within arm’s reach of yet another semi-final in the French capital.
The Serbian dispatched Mackenzie McDonald, Corentin Moutet, Filip Misolic and Cameron Norrie en route to his 100th win at Roland Garros. Djokovic is also two match wins away from an eighth French Open final, where he is a three-time winner. The World No. #6 shall not come bearing gifts with a record 25th Grand Slam title closer than ever when he takes on the German on Wednesday.
Djokovic is on a 10-match winning streak in Paris, including his six wins at last year’s Paris Summer Games. He fell short of defending his 2023 title when he allowed Norwegian Casper Ruud to advance to the last four last year via a walkover.
The clay courts of Roland Garros present a good opportunity for the Serb to add to his haul of Grand Slam wins and break his existing record as the oldest men’s singles champion at the venue. He was 36 when he won the title in 2023.
Zverev, a three-time Grand Slam finalist, tends to draw the short stick at the majors where he remains in pursuit of an elusive maiden title. When the German goes toe-to-toe with top-rung players in the Slams, he buckles under pressure.
Result: Novak Djokovic to win in four sets.
