Carlos Alcaraz vs Tommy Paul preview

Carlos Alcaraz has been at the peak of his career in the last couple of years. The young tennis sensation started the year with a title win at the Indian Well Open. He also reached the quarterfinals of Miami Open and Madrid Open.

Alcaraz is fresh off winning his second Wimbledon title after defeating Novak Djokovic in straight sets at the final. With Wimbledon and French Open wins this year, Alcaraz has the odds stacked in his favour at Paris Olympics 2024.

He is currently on a 10-match winning streak and has a 84 percent win-loss record this season. Alcaraz and Paul will surely entertain the crowd with their physically enduring rallies at Roland Garros.

Tommy started the year slow but picked up his form gradually. He took the title at Dalls and at Queen’s club. Apart from those wins, he also reached the quarter finals at Wimbledon 2024, which remains his best performance at the grass court grand slam.

On clay this year, the 27-year-old has not won more than four matches in a row. At Paris Olympics 2024, Paul has won three in a row and he has slim chances of making it four again.

With 31 wins and 11 losses to this season, Paul currently has a 74% win record. The American will hope come to the net often and cut short the rallies. The groundstroke game of Alcaraz simply cannot be matched.

Interestingly, both the players are also competing in the men’s doubles division as well, which is a huge factor when it comes to keeping themselves fit every single day of the tournament.

Prediction

Carlos Alcaraz is leading the chart in this edition of Olympics to clinch the top spot on the podium. He is surely going to be challenged by Novak Djokovic as the event progresses. Other than that there is not much of a threat for the Spaniard.

Tommy Paul, whose game is more suited for the hard court, surprised the spectators with his performances at the 2024 French Open with some clinical performances. The American tennis star already had a good start to the tournament with three back to back straight set wins. But his tactis on clay that too against Alcaraz will not do the trick.

If Paul keeps on motivating himself in the course of the match, he can turn out to be a threat for the four time Grand Slam winner.

Prediction: Carlos Alcaraz to win in four sets.
