Novak Djokovic has the odds in his favour at Paris Olympics 2024.

Novak Djokovic is fresh off a win over 14-time French Open winner Rafael Nadal, widely regarded as the best player in the history of tennis on clay, in the second round of the Paris Olympics 2024. Despite not being at his best, Nadal was still a formidable opponent at Roland Garros. Millions of spectators were glued to the match with the potential of this being the duo’s last appearance together.

The first 40 minutes were astonishing, as Novak Djokovic dropped just a solitary game, winning the first set 6-1. In the second set Djokovic raced to a four game lead until a trademark backhand from Nadal sparked a barrage of points and a shift in momentum. From 1-4 down, within 15 minutes, the Spaniard leveled the set at 4-4. The crowd were charged up and sensed that the game was on.

Despite having his back against the wall and the momentum with Nadal, Novak Djokovic managed to hold his next serve before breaking his arch rival in the following game to seal the match 6-1 6-4. The Serbian is yet to drop a set at Paris Olympics 2024.

The scenario has been totally different for his third round opponent, Dominik Koepfer. The German has lost a set each in the first two rounds at Paris Olympics 2024. But Koepfer is in good form as he staged an upset in the second round by defeating Italian, Matteo Arnaldi.

The world No #70 is also playing doubles and has had a long and tiring campaign on the courts of Roland Garros.

Novak Djokovic vs Dominik Koepfer match preview

Novak Djokovic is in good form right now and is on the right track at Paris Olympics 2024. The victory against Rafael Nadal must have brought him memories of their classic rivalry.

His next opponent Dominik Koepfer has had a long journey to the third round. The German took down big-serving Milos Raonic in the opening round.

All three sets went till the tiebreaker as the Canadian who is playing in his final Olympics tried his best to stay in contention. But Koepfer kept his cool and advanced to the next round.

He then beat Matteo Arnaldi in three sets in an hour and forty four minutes, who had earlier knocked out Arthur Fils, the winner of the recently concluded German Open, prevailing over Alexander Zverev. Koepfer certainly has the experience of playing big matches, and these close encounters will have prepared him for one of the toughest matches of his career against the 24-time Grand Slam Champion.

Novak Djokovic and Kopefer have faced off against each other only once before. They clashed in the 2020 Italian Open with the Serb prevailing in three sets on clay.

Where and how to watch the live streaming and TV broadcast of the 2024 Olympic Games third round clash between Novak Djokovic vs Dominik Koepfer in India?

Prediction

Novak Djokovic enters the third round as the clear favorite having won his first two rounds in Paris comfortably. While he certainly can’t take anyone lightly, the German certainly has a steep mountain to climb if he were to challenge the Serb.

However the task isn’t impossible for Kopefer. Despite having question marks on his fitness, Novak Djokovic has been playing well so far. The 37-year-old has produced remarkable backhand winners and unpredictable drop shots combined with his deep serves. Kopefer will try and look to extend rallies and hope to wear Djokovic out.

Meanwhile the 24-time-grand slam champion is only playing singles at Paris Olympics 2024 and will be filled with energy during the match. Djokovic is still looking for his first title of the season and his determination to win has been growing stronger.

Prediction: Novak Djokovic to win in straight sets.
