Jannik Sinner was the first player to earn 60 wins this season.
The 2024 season is nearing its conclusion and has given the spectators plenty of heartaches and moments to cherish. Likewise, the players who turn up to play have had their fair share of close calls in victories and defeats throughout the season.
Alexander Zverev and Jannik Sinner are the top-ranked players on the ATP Tour and have been among the Masters 1000 winners in October. Sinner won the Shanghai Masters, while Zverev won the recently concluded Paris Masters. Both players claimed their latest Masters titles while only dropping a single set.
By posting significant wins, Zverev and Sinner have set the tone for the fast-approaching ATP Finals. The event will host the elite eight and as the qualification list has been comfirmed with Novak Djokovic withdrawing from the event.
Let us now look at the top five players with most wins in the ATP tour in 2024:
Alexander Zverev (66-20)
Alexander Zverev put an end to the fairy tale run of Ugo Humbert in the title round of Paris after the Frenchman made his first ATP Masters 1000 final. It was also Humbert’s biggest match being played out, and it was on home turf. The straight-set win by Zverev (6-2, 6-2) ended Humbert’s bid to emulate countryman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to become the first homegrown champion since 2008 at the Paris Masters.
By winning the trophy, Zverev moved into the overall lead at 66 match wins in the 2024 season. The Paris Masters win was the second ATP 1000 win of the season following the victory in Rome, leaving the German with a 28-7 win at Masters events. He also moved up to No. 2 in the ATP rankings.
Jannik Sinner (65-6)
Second on the list is World No. 1 Jannik Sinner, who has claimed a tour leading seven ATP titles this season, including two Grand Slams (Australian Open and the US Open). The Italian can also count title runes at Masters events in Miami, Cincinnati and Shanghai among his 65-win haul.
Despite pulling out of the ATP Paris Masters, the 23-year-old Sinner is 23-2 in Grand Slams and 28-2 in Masters events. He is also an astounding 7-1 in finals this season. The one that got away was the China Open trophy in Beijing, where he played Carlos Alcaraz for the win. Sinner is also 12-5 against the ATP top 10 in 2024.

Carlos Alcaraz (52-11)
Coming in behind Sinner is Carlos Alcaraz at a distant third with 52 wins in the season. Alcaraz, despite a season of oscillating fortunes, is 19-2 in Grand Slams, 16-5 in Masters and 4-1 in finals. In an exceptional year, the Spaniard completed the Channel Slam (wins at Wimbledon and Roland Garros) and the Indian Wells Masters.
Alcaraz lost the opportunity to go for gold at the Paris Olympics when he ran into an inspired Novak Djokovic in the finals of the singles draw. Just three weeks before, Alcaraz overcame Djokovic in the finals at SW19 for the second straight time in the finals. The Spaniard also cobbled together a 11-3 record against the ATP top 10.
Taylor Fritz (49-21)
Not to be outdone by his more illustrious peers, Taylor Fritz has notched up 49 wins on the ATP Tour in 2024. In a season of firsts, Fritz became the first American since Andy Roddick (2003), to reach the final of the US Open. It was also the first Grand Slam Final for the American. Fritz became the first three-time winner at Eastbourne when he won the 2024 title, adding to his wins from 2019 and 2022.
Fritz has a healthy 17-4 win-loss in Grand Slams, 14-9 in Masters and 4-1 in five-setters. The World No. 6 is also the top-ranked American on tour and the first American since Andre Agassi in 2003 to reach the second week of all majors in the same year.
Casper Ruud (49-22)
Tied with Taylor Fritz on 49 wins is Norwegian Casper Ruud. Along with Carlos Alcaraz, Ruud has a flawless 3-0 record in the decider of five-set matches in 2024. A win-loss of 10-4 in Grand Slams and 12-8 in Masters events contributes to the Norwegian’s 49 match wins. Incidentally, Ruud’s loss to Fritz in the US Open fourth round is one of his 22 losses this season.
In 2024, Ruud added an ATP 500 title to his collection for the first time. The win came at the Barcelona Open in April, his biggest win till date. The Norwegian, at No. 7 in the world, leads in the tussle with his Scandinavian neighbour, Holger Rune. Ruud, an Oslo native, is six spots ahead of Rune, who comes at No. 13 in the ATP rankings.
Ruud is also a three-time winner of the Geneva Open and has compiled a 4-2 record against the ATP top 10 in 2024. His 15-6 record in deciders is higher than that of Sinner (13-6) and Alcaraz (7-3) in the year-to-date.
