Novak Djokovic is the first and only player so far in tennis history to complete the Career Golden Masters

Novak Djokovic is not hailed as the greatest tennis player of all time for no reason. The Serbian has achieved everything the sport has to offer, and comfortably tops the list for most Grand Slam trophies in Open Era history with 24.

Apart from the Majors, a tennis player’s pedigree is often judged by performances at the Masters 1000 events. These tournaments demand adaptability across different conditions and surfaces, while consistently requiring players to overcome elite opposition.

Djokovic has dominated the Masters circuit to an extraordinary degree. No player, male or female, has amassed a greater collection of ATP Masters 1000 titles.

The 38-year-old owns a record 40 Masters crowns, ahead of Rafael Nadal, who has 36. What makes the Serbian’s achievement even more remarkable is that he has won every single ATP Masters 1000 event at least once, a feat unmatched in tennis history.

The Career Golden Masters refers to a feat accomplished by a player who wins all ATP Maters 1000 competitions, which comprises of Indian Wells Masters, Miami Open, Monte Carlo Masters, Madrid Open, Italian Open, Montreal or Toronto Open, Cincinnati Open, Shanghai Masters and Paris Masters.

Djokovic completed his first career Golden Masters on August 19, 2018, by defeating Roger Federer in the final of the Cincinnati Masters.

After holding this record successfully for nearly eight years, Djokovic might have to share this rare milestone with another player.

Current World No. 1 Jannik Sinner is well placed to give Djokovic company and become just the second ever player in the sport’s history to achieve this feat.

If he beats Casper Ruud in the Italian Open 2026 final, he will also surpass Djokovic as the youngest ever to win all nine ATP-1000 events.
