Preview: Elena Rybakina vs Coco Gauff prediction, betting tips & odds, head-to-head | US Open 2026
Elena Rybakina ended Qinwen Zheng’s fairytale run in New York to reach her first semi-final at Flushing Meadows. The Kazakh also became the 30th WTA World No. 1 after a 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 win, taking two hours and 14 minutes to subdue Zheng.
Rybakina was down a break in the decider at 4-3, but rallied back to win the final three games to make the last four. It was a high-stakes match, as the No. 2 seed was one of the four players who could finish the Flushing Meadows fortnight as No. 1.
The 27-year-old ended Aryna Sabalenka’s nearly two-year reign at the top, while Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff must wait for a chance to contend for the top spot.
Rybakina will face No. 4 seed Gauff in the semi-finals.

Coco Gauff fought back from a set down to win in three sets against Mirra Andreeva. The American staved off two match points before registering a 2-6, 7-6 (7), 6-2 in 2 hours, 19 minutes on Arthur Ashe Stadium on Wednesday.
Her victory over the fifth-seeded Andreeva sends her into the last four in New York for the second time.
Gauff has improved her record against Andreeva to 6-0, and now joins Sabalenka, Rybakina and Jessica Pegula – marking just the second time in the Open Era that the Top 4 seeds find themselves in the US Open women’s singles semi-finals.

Preview
Rybakina ousted Qinwen Zheng in a tight three-set tussle to make the last four at the Big Apple for the first time. Prior to that, the Kazakh had taken down former World No. 1 and two-time US Open champion Naomi Osaka convincingly, 6-1, 6-4, to set up the match with Zheng.
For Rybakina, a third career Grand Slam is at stake and the season’s second after defeating Sabalenka for the 2026 Australian Open crown. The Kazakh also lifted the Wimbledon trophy in 2022.
Meanwhile, Gauff, coming off a title run in Cincinnati, produced a third comeback win over Andreeva to keep hopes of an American champion alive. Her compatriot Jessica Pegula will take on two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka in the other semi-final.
Should Gauff and Pegula make the title round, it will be the first all-American final since Sloane Stephens defeated Madison Keys in 2017.
Rybakina and Gauff are tied at 1-1 in their head-to-head. Gauff will be seeking her seventh Grand Slam semifinal with the home crowd advantage on her side. Rybakina has been a consistent performer all season and will look to add the US Open trophy to her growing collection.

Match prediction
Gauff fired the first salvo in their head-to-head, winning a three-setter in Toronto in 2022. Rybakina flipped the script at the same venue over the summer to even the score.
The American will play her first US Open semi-final since her title run in 2023 after a tough battle with Andreeva. Rybakina will be on a high after sealing the World No. 1 position after a seesaw battle with qualifier Qinwen Zheng.
It will be a clash of styles between big-serving Rybakina, who is also a powerful striker of the ball, and Gauff, who brings her athleticism and a lethal backhand to the table.
Rybakina’s first-strike tennis hands her the edge in the upcoming contest. Gauff’s fate will hinge on how well she manages her serve and minimise her unforced errors.
Result: Elena Rybakina to win in three sets.
