ATP Rio Open 2026: All you need to know about prize money & points on offer

Sebastian Baez, the defending champion, will contest for the $460,000 paycheck at ATP Rio Open 2026.

Sebastian Baez continued the domination of Argentinians and South Americans in Brazil when he defended his Rio Open crown in 2025. Fellow Argentine Diego Schwartzman won the ATP 500 event in 2018. Chilean Cristian Garin, another South American, lifted the trophy in 2020.

As a two-time defending champion, Baez will take on a local squad of Brazilians led by Joao Fonseca. The Rio Open, which joined the ATP Tour in 2014, had a different winner each year until Baez won back-to-back titles in 2024 and 2025.

Joao Fonseca will lead the home charge, as he looks to deliver the first Brazilian winner of the Rio Open. At stake is an opportunity for the 19-year-old to return to the ATP Top 30.

Fellow Brazilian João Lucas Reis will join Fonseca in the main draw, having been given a wildcard. Sixteen-year-old Brazilian Guto Miguel is also a beneficiary of a wildcard into the main draw. Francisco Cerundolo, Tomás Martín Etcheverry, and Camilo Ugo Carabelli will join fellow Argentine Sebastian Baez in the main draw.

Missing from the starting lineup will be Gael Monfils, who is not having a great start to his final year on tour. The entertaining Frenchman has been sidelined from the Rio Open due to illness.

Also absent will be Lorenzo Musetti, who would have been the top seed at the ATP 500 event. In his absence Italian hopes in Rio shall rest on the trio of Luciano Darderi, Matteo Berrettini, and Lorenzo Sonego.
