WTA Dubai Open 2026: All you need to know about prize money & points on offer

Elena Rybakina will contest the WTA Dubai Open 2026 as the top seed.

The WTA Dubai Open 2026 is the second and final WTA 1000 event of the Middle East before the tour shifts to North America. Sixteen of the twenty Top 20 players from the WTA will compete in Dubai.

The event has been hit by the withdrawals of its two top seeds – Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek. Elena Rybakina, fresh from winning the 2026 Australian Open, will be the top seed at the WTA 1000 event.

Mirra Andreeva, who at 17 became the youngest WTA 1000 champion when she won the Dubai Open in 2025, will return to defend her title. Elena Rybakina takes over as the top seed, while American Amanda Anisimova is seeded second.

Both Rybakina and Anisimova are coming off a disappointing Qatar Open campaign. Rybakina lost to Victoria Mboko in the quarter-finals, and Anisimova’s attempt to defend her title in Doha was cut short due to illness.

The Kazakh’s chances of taking her second title of the season look brighter as she closes in on the No. 2 ranking, a spot she’s never held before. A title run in Dubai will hand Rybakina her first WTA 1000 title since the 2023 Italian Open.

Alexander Eala will be making her main draw debut in Dubai, as well as Turkish player Zeynep Sonmez. Two-time champion Elina Svitolina will hold the torch for the tour veterans, which includes Jasmine Paolini, Ekaterina Alexandrova, Belinda Bencic and Jessica Pegula.

Defending champion Mirra Andreeva, Victoria Mboko and Iva Jovic, all teenagers, will represent the next generation of WTA stars at the Aviation Club Tennis Centre in Dubai. Giving the three teens company will be 20-year-old Czech Sara Bejlek, who won the recently concluded Abu Dhabi Open.

An impressive title run in Abu Dhabi by Bejlek saw her win the event as a qualifier. She dropped just one set en route to her maiden WTA 500 trophy.
