Musetti and Paul will compete to add a third ATP-level trophy to their collection.
Lorenzo Musetti moved past Australian Jordan Thompson 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 to reach the finals of the Queen’s Club Championships 2024 in London. The 22-year-old was impressive in the third set, producing 14 winners of the 27 in the match in the final set, and hit just four unforced errors in the decider to reach his third ATP Tour final.
Fourteen unforced errors came from Musetti’s racquet to twenty by Thompson. The Italian sealed victory on his first match point in the ninth game of the third set to make his first career grass court final.
Tommy Paul got the better of countryman Sebastian Korda, 6-4, 7-6(2), in the other semi-final, advancing to his sixth final on the tour and third of the season. It will be the American’s second grass-court final, having reached the championship round at Eastbourne last year.
A win at the Queen’s Club in the final against Musetti will make Paul the American No. #1, surpassing Taylor Fritz for the top position in American tennis.

Tommy Paul vs Lorenzo Musetti preview
Musetti, who is No. #25 in the ATP Live Rankings, is 2-0 in tour-level finals and will look to maintain that unbeaten record when he takes on Tommy Paul for the title on Sunday.
Musetti began his week at The Queen’s Club with two back-to-back three-setters against Hertogenbosch champion Alex de Minaur and Brandon Nakashima. The Italian is on 7-1 on grass this season following his semi-final appearance in Stuttgart last week, where he lost to fellow Italian Matteo Berrettini.
Paul, seeded fifth in the tournament, recovered from losing his 5-2 lead in the second set to take the tiebreak 7-2 after claiming the first set in 40 minutes. The American avenged the last eight defeat to Korda in ‘s-Hertogenbosch last week.

Prediction
The 32-player main draw at Queen’s Club Championships 2024 is now down to two as Tommy Paul and Lorenzo Musetti vie for the trophy at the ATP 500 event. At stake is the most prestigious grass court event of the season after Wimbledon.
At Queen’s, Paul dropped just one set in the four rounds on the way to his second career grass-court final. In the quarterfinals, he sent home British hope Jack Draper a day after the 22-year-old from Sutton upset defending champion Carlos Alcaraz.
Lorenzo Musetti has had a fluctuating season but is scripting a turnaround on grass as he aims to lift his first trophy since 2022. He has won seven of the last eight matches played on the surface and is playing the Queen’s Club final as an unseeded player. The last unseeded player to win the title was Spaniard Feliciano Lopez as a wildcard in 2019.
Musetti’s one-handed backhand has worked well all week and will be a weapon of choice in the final against the 13th-ranked Tommy Paul. In return, Paul will work to cover the court’s corners and dampen the Italian’s backhands.
Paul and Musetti come into the final with a 2-2 record and quarterfinal appearances at the venue in 2022 and 2023 being their best results. The contenders in the final round have each won four of their last five matches.
With very little to tell them apart, Musetti taking an early lead like he did against Jordan Thompson will work in his favour.
Result: Lorenzo Musetti to win in three sets.
