South Korea vs India Draws Released: Who plays whom in Davis Cup 2026 Qualifiers Round 2?

The tie hosted in Seoul is set to be held from September 18-19.

A major test awaits Team India, with history at stake at Davis Cup 2026 as they prepare to face South Korea away from home. After two stunning upsets in their previous two ties, the Indian unit will look to secure their quarter-final position in the competition.

However, India will face a challenging task against a stronger Asian side. Yuki Bhambri‘s absence is another setback for the contingent. With a last-minute replacement difficult to arrange, the team has been left without an experienced and reliable option for the doubles event.

Bhambri’s experience would have been invaluable to the Indian contingent. But his absence also opens the door for a new generation of players to step up and create history for the country. India’s hero against the Netherlands, DK Suresh, will start India’s campaign against South Korea’s No. 1 Soonwoo Kwon.

Kwon is ranked World No. 150 and will be the biggest challenge for this Indian team, as he is far more experienced and is likely to win both matches. While Suresh’s big serve could keep him in the contest, Kwon’s rally tolerance and effectiveness from both ends are likely to test the relatively inexperienced Suresh.

India’s singles No. 1 Sumit Nagal will clash with Hyeon Chung in a match-up where he is expected to win. The 30-year-old started off his career with a bang, becoming the first Korean to reach a Grand Slam semi-final and beating stars like Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev.

However, he missed 31 months due to a chronic back injury and returned only in 2023. He won his first title in five years at the ITF M25 tournament in Bali.

The second day of the South Korea vs India Davis Cup 2026 Qualifiers Round 2 tie will begin with the doubles rubber, with N Sriram Balaji partnering Niki Poonacha. The Indian pair must secure victory to keep the tie alive.

The tie will then conclude with reverse singles, with Sumit Nagal facing Soonwoo Kwon in a clash between the two squads’ highest-ranked players. DK Suresh will contest the final rubber against Hyeon Chung.
