Tennis coach names 5 stars who can compete with Carlos Alcaraz & Jannik Sinner

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have each won four Grand Slam titles since the 2024 Australian Open.
Serena Williams’ former tennis coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, has named five tennis stars who will compete against Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner at the top level of tennis.
The Alcaraz-Sinner rivalry has become a key talking point in the sport this year. The two have faced each other five times on the tour this year in different finals, including three majors.
Since the 2024 Australian Open, the two have won four Grand Slam titles each, stopping Novak Djokovic from winning his much-anticipated 25th title.
Meanwhile, other players have also failed to stretch the two to their limits in a crucial match. Sinner has shown consistency on the tour and has only faced issues against Alcaraz. Meanwhile, the 22-year-old has won eight titles this year and has reached the semi-finals of all the tournaments he has played since the 2025 Miami Open.
After winning the 2025 US Open, Alcaraz recently took over Jannik Sinner in the ATP rankings as the new World No. 1. Thus, questions about who would be able to challenge the new ‘Big Two’ have been raised in the minds of numerous tennis fans.
Providing his verdict on the rising question, Patrick Mouratoglou names five tennis players. The French coach named Ben Shelton, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Joao Fonseca, Holger Rune, and Jack Draper as the future head-to-head competitors of the excelling duo.
Mouratoglou wrote on LinkedIn, “Everyone asks me: who will really be able to compete with Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in the coming years? A few names come to mind. Ben Shelton, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Joao Fonseca, Holger Rune, and Jack Draper.”
Ben Shelton has played two major semifinals, while Felix Auger-Aliassime reached his first Grand Slam last four at the 2025 US Open. Meanwhile, 19-year-old Joao Fonseca is gradually catching up with the tour as he broke into the top 50 earlier this year.

Holger Rune is a former world No. 4, and he defeated the Spaniard earlier this year to win the Barcelona Open. He recently asserted that he can defeat Sinner and Alcaraz; however, he only struggles with staying consistent. British No. 1 and last year’s US Open semi-finalist, Jack Draper, is currently out due to an injury.
Nevertheless, Patrick Mouratoglou thinks that these five tennis players will compete neck-and-neck against Sinner and Alcaraz in the future.
