WTA Tokyo Open 2024: Live streaming, TV channel, where and how to watch?

Tokyo Open is the final WTA 500 event of this season.

The WTA Tokyo Open 2024 is one of the final events which is part of the Asian swing. The players have been involved in a hectic schedule as three events are going on at the same time. The WTA tour will see 10 events taking place this month as the Tokyo Open, Abierto Tampico Open and Guangzhou Open are being held on the same dates.

Players will be prioritising their presence in Tokyo as it is the final WTA 500 event of the season. The 39th edition of the event will witness three players from the top ten rankings in the field. Qinwen Zheng is leading the attack followed by Daria Kasatkina and Beatriz Haddad Maia. The Chinese player is riding high on confidence by qualifying for WTA Finals for the first time this season.

Kasatkina is in good form as she captured the Ningbo Open two days ago. Meanwhile, Zheng will be playing her first match since losing the Wuhan Open final to Aryna Sabalenka almost two weeks ago. She had reached the finals in Tokyo in 2022 and lost to Liudmila Samsonova in straight sets.

Apart from the top ranked players, underdogs Sofia Kenin and Bianca Andreescu have been offered wildcards to the event. Defending champion Veronika Kudermetova suffered a shocking first round loss to Viktoriya Tomova. The Russian’s early exit means that there will be a first time Tokyo champion in 2024.

Over to the women’s doubles, Erin Routliffe/ Gabriela Dabrowski are the top seeds while Demi Schuurs/ Asia Muhammad are seeded second. Defending champions, Ulrikke Eikeri/ Ingrid Neel are not playing in the event this time. There are no Indians in the main draw of the tournament. 

Gabriela Dabrowski had won the title back in 2022 with Giuliana Olmos who will be playing alongside Alexandra Panova. Olmos and Dabrowski are the only former champions present in this edition.

The Tokyo Open 2024 started from October 21 and will go on till October 27. The matches will take place at the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo, Japan.
