US Open 2025 Mixed Doubles: Which top singles players are competing in tournament?

From Alcaraz and Raducanu to Sinner and Navarro: US Open 2025 brings star power to the mixed doubles draw.

The US Open organisers have translated every tennis fan’s dream into reality. Starting this year, the mixed doubles event will witness top-ranked men’s and women’s singles players fight it out for the trophy and a handsome cash prize.

Although it might seem like a dramatic scenario concocted by a fan page, this mixed doubles madness is set to become a reality this year.

Who will be playing?

The pair that has caught everyone’s attention is Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz. The duo has previously spoken highly of each other, and tennis fans have shipped them for their amicable nature and friendly vibes. Additionally, both are former US Open winners and are certain to entertain and put on a show for fans worldwide.

In contrast, World No. 1 Jannik Sinner forms an unexpected partnership with Emma Navarro. Both have similar traits and are introverts, but are formidable on court, making them a pair to watch out for.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion will be seen sharing the court alongside Serbian counterpart Olga Danilovic, while the Spanish-Greek couple of Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas will battle it out together.

Amongst all the rookie doubles players, a couple of strong title contenders emerge for the title. Jasmine Paolini and Taylor Townsend are household names in the doubles fraternity, set to play alongside Lorenzo Musetti and Ben Shelton, respectively.

Another interesting pairing to watch out for is Elena Rybakina and Taylor Fritz, who had won an exhibition event together, a few months back at the Eisenhower Cup 2025.

Why has this change been made?

Top singles players are set to compete in the mixed doubles event at the US Open 2025 due to a bold new format designed specifically to attract the sport’s biggest stars.

The United States Tennis Association (USTA) has revamped the event, shifting its traditional focus from doubles specialists to high-profile singles players to boost fan engagement and global attention.

This year’s mixed doubles will feature blockbuster pairings, like Carlos Alcaraz with Emma Raducanu, and Iga Swiatek with Casper Ruud, making it a star-studded spectacle.

The event, scheduled during US Open Fan Week, offers a record $1 million prize for the winning team, significantly increasing the stakes and appeal for top-ranked singles players.

Tournament organizers believe this approach will create unmatched excitement, draw new audiences, and elevate the prestige of mixed doubles, transforming it into a marquee attraction at the Grand Slam.

Which top singles player will be absent from this event?

Coco Gauff, one of the most notable absentees, was expected to feature, given it is her home Slam. In the men’s division, Holger Rune is the sole top-10 ATP player missing from the entry list.

When questioned about the same, the Dane squashed the rumors floating on social media about him turning down top WTA stars, and added, “I did enter. Entry does not close before June 28.”
