US Open 2026, Day 7

Jovic-Eala, Tien-Mensik headline some of the intriguing match-ups

Day 7 of the US Open 2026 brings the opening week of the singles draw to a close, with the final third-round results set to be determined. Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus kept her three-peat bid alive with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Uzbekistan’s Kamilla Rakhimova, while Jessica Pegula of the USA overcame a slow start to beat Canada’s Leylah Fernandez in three sets.

Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz of Spain looked comfortable in his own comeback, dismissing lucky loser Wu Yibing of China in straight sets. Meanwhile, Russia’s Daniil Medvedev was similarly untroubled against France’s Arthur Rinderknech.

Today, the spotlight shifts to a fresh set of contenders looking to book their spot in the last eight. On Arthur Ashe, ninth seed Taylor Fritz of the USA opens against Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo before American star Coco Gauff takes on Spain’s Cristina Bucsa.

The stadium then hosts an all-teen battle in the women’s draw between Iva Jovic of the USA and Philippines’ Alexandra Eala, followed by top seed Alexander Zverev of Germany against Alejandro Tabilo to close out the day session.

Over at the Louis Armstrong Stadium, USA’s Amanda Anisimova opens against Anastasia Potapova, with Flavio Cobolli of Italy and Belgium’s Alexander Blockx following in the men’s draw. The evening session there brings one of the standout matchups of the day, as Naomi Osaka of Japan faces Belgium’s Elise Mertens, before Jakub Mensik of the Czech Republic and USA’s Learner Tien close out the stadium.

Interestingly, Grand Slam champions Iga Swiatek of Poland, Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan and Madison Keys of the USA play at Grandstand. Meanwhile, Russia’s Mirra Andreeva clashes against Nikola Bartunkova of the Czech Republic on Stadium 17, where Russia’s Karen Khachanov and Zizou Bergs of Belgium also feature later in the evening.
