ATP Vienna Open 2024: Live streaming, TV channel, where and how to watch?

Vienna Open made its tennis debut in 1974.

The ATP Vienna Open 2024 is one of the events leading up to the grand finale of the season. The ATP 500 event is played on indoor hardcourts as the top ranked players battle to gain crucial ranking points. The event is being held simultaneously with Swiss Indoors Basel 2024 which is also held indoors on hardcourts.

The 2024 season will mark the 50th edition of the event. The inaugural edition was held in 1974. The 1988 edition saw Horst Skoff become the first Austrian player to lift the title in singles. As of 2024, Jurgen Melzer is the only Austrian to win multiple and successive titles at the event.

There are three top ten ranked players featuring in the event this time. Alexander Zverev is the top seed and has won the title in 2021. He is joined by Grigor Dimitrov and Alex de Minaur as they will need wins to stay alive in the ATP Finals 2024 singles race.

Minaur is currently ranked ninth while Dimtrov in 11th place, a rank below Tommy Paul who is also in Vienna. The battle for the four remaining spots in the season ending championships continue in Vienna

This year’s event also holds an emotional value for the home crowd as it witnessed the farewell of Dominic Thiem. The former world No.3 had won the title back in 2019 in his 10th attempt. This season was his 14th appearance in Vienna as he lost to Italy’s Luciano Darderi in straight sets in the opening round. The home crowd will miss his powerful one-handed backhands ruling the courts.

In the men’s doubles, Marcelo Arevalo/ Mate Pavic were the top seeds in the event but suffered an opening round defeat. Second seeded Rohan Bopanna/ Matthew Ebden will be now taking charge as the favourites. Bopanna is the only Indian competing in the event this time and had won the title in 2017 while playing with Pablo Cuevas.

The ATP Vienna Open 2024 started from October 21 and will go on till October 27. The matches take place at Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna, Austria.
