Alcaraz, faced a tough challenge in his semi-final against Casper Ruud, dropping the first set 3-6 and struggling with an ankle issue lingering since the tournament opener, the Spaniard committed 15 unforced errors early on.
However, he quickly regained control, improving his serve and winning 20 of 24 points on his first serve in the second set, ultimately clinching a hard-fought 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory.
This win marked the Spaniard’s 10th tour-level final of the season and extended his 61-6 win-loss record with seven titles to his name in 2025.
On the other hand, the former champion Taylor Fritz will enter the final after a 6-4, 6-3 win over fellow American Jenson Brooksby to reach his third final of the season.
The Californian’s serve was a key factor in the win, delivering 13 aces and winning 85% of his first-serve points.
Fritz admitted post-match that his “insanely well” serving carried him through when Brooksby pressured him from the baseline.
“I served insanely well. High percentage first serves and spots too. It felt like any game that I didn’t hit three aces, he was really outplaying me from the baseline. My serve got me through it,” he said.
The most recent clash between Alcaraz and Fritz came at the recently concluded 2025 Laver Cup. The World No.4 defeated the Spaniard, marking his first victory against the Spaniard in four encounters.
