Jannik Sinner leads the head-to-head against Novak Djokovic by 6-5

In a direct rematch from last season, Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic will write yet another chapter to their fascinating rivalry, as they meet with a place in the Wimbledon 2026 final at stake.

The defending champion has looked increasingly dominant as the tournament has progressed, dropping just one set all fortnight after surviving a five-set scare in the opening round.

The Italian has dispatched Jenson Brooksby, Shintaro Mochizuki and Jan-Lennard Struff, to continue his remarkable consistency at Grand Slams, after an unusual dip at Roland Garros.

Djokovic, meanwhile, continues to defy all barriers, and keeps giving fans more special moments. The seven-time Wimbledon champion created history by becoming the winningest men’s singles player at the All England Club with 107 match victories before surviving a marathon five-hour, five-minute battle against Felix Auger-Aliassime in the longest Wimbledon quarter-final ever.

At 39 years of age, the Serbian has reached an eighth consecutive Wimbledon semi-final and is now just two wins away from a record-equalling eighth title.

Sinner leads the overall head-to-head rivalry by 6-5 and has won five of their last six meetings, although Djokovic halted the Italian’s winning streak with victory in the Australian Open semi-finals earlier this year.

Grass though, has traditionally favoured the Serbian, who still holds a 2-1 edge over Sinner on the surface. However, it was the Italian who emerged victorious when the duo met here last year at this stage.

While Djokovic’s experience, return game and tactical brilliance make him a dangerous opponent, Sinner enters as the fresher player after spending considerably less time on court.

With both players chasing history for different reasons, another high-quality contest appears inevitable, but Sinner’s physical advantage and return to form gives him the edge in this blockbuster semi-final.
